Visit January

Very good price for value in the near of Freiburg. Very clean & delicious breakfast. The furniture is functional. Only one key is available for one room and late check out 12 o’clock. Glottertal is a cosy village.

2 night stay on a road trip

A lovely stay. The room was as expected for a guesthouse and was clean. I found the mattress a bit firm, my husband thought it perfect. English was spoken, which helped with our non existent German. Breakfast consisted of lovely bread rolls, cold meats, boiled eggs and jam, coffee was lovely. We ate dinner there both nights in the beer garden, we loved the food.
Very close to Freiburg, we drove to P&R at Goldfingen and took the number 4 tram in. Tickets bought on the tram with instructions in English.

too expensive

I have been there two weeks ago for visit freiburg and I was quite surprise with the place. Nobody speak any word of English, even "breakfast" or "name". It was only possible to register us because my partner could speak something in german otherwise I don´t know if we were still there to registe r for the room. The service was really strange.
The room was quite big but the heating was off and we went early so we could turn on and then when we came back from visiting freiburg, it was really nice to be inside.
There was no soup or shampoo in the bathroom.
The breakfast was really poor, only eggs, some bread, one kind of cereals and cheese. Not even yogurt, fruit or croissant. I wasn´t expected so much but that was quite disappointed.
We payed 70 euros for one night, I would recommend just to stay there if you just pay the 50% less.

Typical German Guesthouse

Having stayed in Guest Houses in Bad Orb on previous business trips in the last 5 years I was pleased to find the Hotel Linde to be presented exactly as the other Guest Houses that I have stayed in.
The room is spacious, has the furniture and fittings that you expect in a Guesthouse, and we very clean and tidy.
The owners were very friendly and welcoming, really making us feel comfortable.
The breakfast was a 'typical' continental breakfast, as us english would expect. A selection of meats and cheeses, with toast, bread rolls, eggs, and cereals to compliment this.
The coffee was very nice, not bitter like some establishments.
The owners made some suggestions of nice restuarants in the town (14 already in existance), so they do not have their own restuarant on site. But in my experience this is normal for a guest house anyway, all over the world.
Breakfast is served from 07:30 - 09:30, which suits us as we are not early risers anyway. After all, why get up early when on holiday, its all about relaxing.
Glottertal was surprising, and given more time I am sure there was plenty more to explore, certainly plenty of walking opportunities. Freiburg being very close is good if you like cities, and the public transport is free via a scheme operated by the BlackForest tourist board.

Weekend in Glottertal

This small hotel is located on the central road of surprising Glottertal, a prime destination for wine and wandering in the Black Forest.
We paid 65 EUR per night for a double room on Friday and Saturday nights. We reserved on Booking.com. The price included breakfast and parking. As you will read, we struggled to reach the owners of this hotel by phone. We could not find their number online until after we made the reservation. If you need it, the number is 00497684907432.
I give this ho-hum hotel two stars. The multi-lingual owners are well-intentioned and offer a clean establishment. It was a good value, but a few hiccups during our stay made it easy to feel this middle-aged couple is new to running a hotel.
The rooms are newly and simply furnished. They all seem to squarely face the back of the hotel, where there is a parking lot, patio and a gurgling stream. Sitting on the balcony at the end of the main hallway provides a sunlit, relaxing terrace on which to listen to the brook. And a side window in the room - at least our room, No. 4, gives a view of the sweeping, tree-stacked hills in front.
The room is comfortable and adequete - quite typical of most rooms in this small villiage. Had we wanted more space and comfort, we would have had to pay 90-110 Euros per night (for two people) and stayed in a different hotel.
In our rooms, there was a radiator, so you are able to adjust the heat. The bed is a full double bed - there are not the two twin pallets as in many hotels throughout Europe. There is a small desk and two end tables. But in the bathroom - small but clean - there is no hair dryer or very much soap or shampoo. Bring your own.
Things were more amiss Saturday, though. During the day, we trekked through the hills, enjoying the sunshine and foilage (it was late October). After a coffee and a peice of Schwartzwald tort, we were looking forward to a hot shower and a nap.
However, when we got back to the hotel, the heat had stopped working. Our radiator did not work, there was no hot water and the Internet (free and wireless) had stopped working. We telephoned the owners, but they did not answer. No one was downstairs in the breakfast room or front desk.
This was frustrating and not rectified until after breakfast the next morning. Dino, one of the owners, profusely apologised and did give us two bottles of wine as a parting gift.
Notes: Breakfast is served from 8-9:30 a.m. Breakfast was a simple meal of coffee, orange juice, cereal, soft-boiled eggs, cheese, sliced meats, a few rolls and jam/honey/Nutela)....The region (which includes the entire Black Forest area) provides free public transportation - bus, tram and train - within the region (because you pay a hotel tax of 1.80 per day)....While there are not many hotels listed on TripAdvisor or Booking.com, there are about 50 B&Bs in and around this villiage....Stargazing at night here is amazing! There is little light pollution and it is easy to see many constallations, shooting stars and the Milky Way.
Eating notes: On Friday night we visited a small restaurant across the street and up a hill. Our waitress there, Diana, served us a sampling of wines from the many vineyards of Glottertal as well as some great Schnitzel. It was a cozy, pleasant place to eat - and everyone was friendly, saying hello and goodbye as they came and went. This seems typical of Glottertal....On Saturday night, we visited the Golden Engel restaurant, down the road from our hotel. It was a 15-minute walk but worthwhile. The restaraunt was cozy, had live accordian music, waitresses dressed in traditional costumes and a special seasonal menu. The duck with pumpkin-filled ravioli and spinach was great!

Very good location
