I did not stay at Domero Hotel. On the day of arrival I was contacted that they would not have a room for me because of construction. They did transfer my reservation to Hotel Schwizer Hof which was around the corner.
So this review is for The Hotel Schweizer Hof.

Catastrophic!!! Worst hotel experience of our lives!!!

We had booked 2 rooms for the night of May 8th to May 9th, 2026, with my 73-year-old mother and my sister. A more than disappointing experience! The hotel was in a catastrophic and absolutely unacceptable condition, in which, from our perspective, no rental to guests should have occurred.
Already upon entering the hotel, dirt, construction materials, and clear signs of construction were visible. The paths to the rooms led through areas that resembled a construction site more than a hotel. Construction materials and food scraps were lying around on the floors.
The rooms were also in a condition that we do not consider to be in accordance with the contract: missing covers, missing outlets, visible cables, no privacy screen in the bathroom. Particularly alarming was that construction work and hotel operations were taking place simultaneously, without any clear separation being recognizable.
My mother had explicitly mentioned her walking difficulties when booking and inquired about the elevator, which of course was broken upon our arrival. Nevertheless, we were only assigned rooms on the third floor.
Even more disappointing than the condition of the hotel was the handling of our complaint. On-site, there was no one available who could make a decision. We therefore left the hotel and had to urgently find another accommodation at our own expense. To this day, we have not received a refund for the nights that were already paid in full.
For us, this was the worst hotel experience of our lives!!!
Lack of transparency, a construction site condition instead of regular hotel operations, and no response to legitimate complaints. Definitely not recommended.

Hotel is going through a refurbishment, lift not working. Even so, my room was pretty poor - floor falling apart, no towels/toilet paper. No much sound proofing. TV not working. Breakfast was good

Classic style grand hotel in a great condition. Dormero is renovating the rooms with respect for the heritage. I lived it. Friendly staff too. If anything, I would change the company outfit of the staff. Great for most other Dormero locations, but misplaced for the grand hotel vibe of this particular hotel. I guess not having them wear the red braces would be a good start.

You should have read the reviews here before booking

The receptionist received us very friendly and explained to us that the house had come “of age” and was being renovated piece by piece. Okay, the first impression in the foyer was okay. Special charm, we were almost delighted. First disillusionment followed in the elevator, which has not been cleaned for a long time. The topic of cleaning runs like a common thread through our stay.
The floor in the hotel hallway was probably forgotten in the morning when cleaning. We thought so. But the uncleanness has concept. Apparently, the (cleaning) club is only swung on demand here. Apart from the fact that the carpet covering is partially shredded, it was covered with lint and crumbs all over.
In the room we could hardly believe our eyes: the laminate crumbled to itself and stood out from the floor. Dust hasn't been wiped here for a little while. Ubiquitous in the bathroom: the mold. The bathroom radiator blatantly showed its rustiness. The windows were cleaned exclusively biologically: by the rain. And to top it off, one of the two armchairs was “torn open”, as if looking for a hidden treasure.
Since we had an evening program, we took it all so well. Next morning, next scare in the breakfast room. The visibly unmotivated young hotel worker cleared the tables. All crumbs were transported from the table to the floor with a thorough wipe. The placemats were lifted up and the crumbs on them suffered the same fate: they were shaken to the floor. Although the placemats were “dirty”, they were turned around and put down again. And all this under the eyes of the guests. Luckily, they were done. But a glance at the glasses did not bode well....
The location is good in and of itself (very close to the city), but after dark you don't have a good feeling when crossing this district.
On the positive side, the drinks in the minibar (4x soft drinks) were available free of charge. Likewise, the architecture and much inventory is very worth seeing (billiard room, aquarium, furniture).
From the parking garage you get directly to the hotel (1. Floor PH). But don't worry, ma's going to PH again after 10pm. The electric door closes and cannot be opened from the outside. No clue, nothing. But you can get through 2. Floor through a dark corridor towards the main entrance, which can be opened by chip. According to other guests, cars were broken into several times in the PH.
One can only hope that better times will come for the house soon.
