Fantastic stay high in the mountains of Schwarzwald

We arrived at Präger Böden on foot from the bus at Brandenberg, which was a lovely walk up through the snow. We checked the location of the guesthouse in advance, so the remote location wasn't a surprise to us and part of what makes this such an appealing guesthouse.
Upon arrival we were given a warm welcome by the hosts and shown our room, which was spacious and tidy, and had a great view of the mountains from the balcony. Overall excellent value for the low price.
Breakfast and dinner were served in the very cozy dining area. Breakfast wasn't too special, but met our expectations. Dinner was great.
The surroundings of the guesthouse offer great opportunities for scenic (snowshoe) hiking. We really recommend going to the Herzogenhorn for cool views over Schwarzwald, the Vosges and the Alps!
Overall our experience was very positive, and if we'll revisit Schwarzwald we'll definitely stay in Präger Böden again!

Winnetou seeks protection

Owner friendly, dinner good, rooms clean - simple and small, Absolute shortcoming the approach over the forest. That's where the world ends and the road goes with it, you should be able to filter that out better when booking.

Great Mother's Day graduation

My mother and I were there spontaneously today and received a very friendly welcome. Immediately was served and the atmosphere and surroundings revealed that we stayed there longer than planned.Despite the adventurous but also very nice drive through the forest it was really worth it. We enjoyed the peace and nice conversations with the owners very much and will definitely come back. We only had a drink, but it was all very stylishly arranged and the menu looked promising. Through a very nice and personal conversation with the owners we also learned about special events such as whiskey and barbecue evenings and the guest rooms in this beautiful setting are certainly great. You also heard how much commitment and passion the two of them have behind them and they constantly have new ideas and want to offer variety.
In short: a detour is definitely worth it!

Miscast

Honest review .
On the matter of a quiet overnight stay on New Year's Eve with dog ( Extreme Panic of Firecrackers and Rockets ) we became aware of the Bergasthaus.
In the phone with the landlady we were told that there are no fireworks. But a dinner for guests in the form of buffet or fondue is planned . Then we booked one night .
Access was very difficult , the entire road+parking+entrance were icy. On arrival confirmation (3 days before) you were not informed that the arrival becomes so dangerous or snow chains would have been useful.
The reception was unprofessional and you did not feel welcome (except for the mother of the landlady)
Then the room was opened to us and we were asked if we brought our own towels.
We were then explained very briefly and concisely how the whole thing goes on here and that there will be fireworks at 00:00 (the innkeeper cannot do without it according to the woman)
After this information you are speechless because that was the reason to come here to have the targeted peace of New Year's Eve with the panicked dogs.
To eat :
We were announced a buffet, then a cheese fondue buffet .
The service was planless , reckless and unpleasant.
DURING the meal, a board was then erected that today's "New Year's Eve buffet" costs 56.90 euros per person (without drinks).
Inferior products , of cheese in the fondue NO trace. (reminiscent of a processed cheese preparation with Tetrapak Hollondaise) . Service + eat abysmally underground and outrageous.
All three of us are from the gastronomy and are not borrowers and that is unfortunately just a shame.
The room and bathroom were clean:-)
And the rest of the night was quiet and breakfast was good.

Functional accommodation for a multi-day hike

We arrived pithy wet and were initially very friendly and immediately led to the drying room in the basement, which was really very comfortable! Rooms are simple but functional. We got towels and shower very well. Mini sink, which minimized the morning toilet, but ok! Unfortunately, the arrival of a motorcycle troop diverted almost all attention from us or did we consume too little? Unpleasant questions asked?
Anyway, we hardly got a greeting in the morning, let alone the question if we would like to eat a scrambled egg...but there was then hot water for the tea.
Overall passable station for a multi-day hike.
