Great hotel in beautiful surroundings.

I have recently returned from a walking holiday in Poland with a group of 37, and was pleasantly surprised, firstly by the hotel itself, which is very clean and modern, secondly by the good selection of food, and thirdly by the friendliness of the staff (even though they spoke very little English!) There is also a lift, so disabled visitors need not worry about access to facilities. The hotel is situated in beautiful countryside, approximately 5 km from the small town, so transport of some sort is required. We were very well looked after in the Ski Hotel, and have no hesitation in recommending it!

Hotel great, wifi sucks

Hotel and its premises are very good: lots of places to sit around, billard, table. Food is great. But wifi coverage is very bad. Even if I finally connect to wifi pages simply do not load at all or they load only after 10 minutes of continuous attempts. On the other hand I succeeded in sending email with a large attachment from a mail program the day before. Views are splendid, rooms are clean. It would be a 100% rating if it were not for disastrous internet connection.

Relax with no snow

spent new year 2015 at the Ski Hotel Piwniczna Zdroj. Friendly hotel located at the bottom of the ski slopes. We had no snow (same as most of europe). There was artificial snow available twenty minutes drive in Wiercholma.
No complaints about the hotel and food. Everything worked as required.
Location is great. With snow and ice the drive up could be difficult and the hotel recomends chains.
Not a hotel for someone looking for lots of apres ski as it sits on the side of the mountain

Excellent Hotel - Excellent Staff

I organised a walking holiday for forty persons in Southern Poland through Venture Poland for the Cyprus Rambling Club and this was our base for our week's walking; first of all the photos on the web do not do the hotel justice, although the rooms are small, they are modern, light and clean. We had room 107, which had a balcony overlooking the mountain areas. However, what really impressed our group was the fantastic staff, who, although spoke very little English went out of their way to make our stay an enjoyable one. We were on full board and Breakfast was a great selection of cold meats, cheeses, yoghurts, fresh bread, salads and scrambled eggs with local sausages, our packed lunches were fresh rolls, stuffed with meats and cheeses, fruit and the evening meals were local and cosmopolitan. The beer was very cheap, 7 zty and there were a few different wines.
It is situated away from the local town, however, we would recommend it to anyone as a base.

Good value hotel in picturesque mountain location.

My wife and I visited this hotel for a week in September 2015 as part of a holiday with a group of 37 ex patriates from Cyprus. We flew from Cyprus to Krakow Airport and then had a coach trip of two and a half hours to reach the hotel a Piwnicznz Zdroj. The hotel is located 5 kms from the village of Piwniczna and is located quite high up in the mountains near to ski slopes facilities and surrounded by rolling green fields and forests.
Initial impression is that the hotel is a good quality 3 star hotel catering for winter skiing but also for other outdoor outdoor activities such as hiking and mountain biking. We were advised that the hotel was 8 years old and was generally well laid out with a small wooden ski chalet adjacent was used for meals and functions. During our stay there was a local wedding function in the hotel but this did not inconvenience us in any way.
The bedrooms were modern and of reasonable size with nice bathrooms and modern showers (no baths) and a good supply of hot water. The rooms were carpeted and the windows were double glazed. Coming from the heat of Cyprus we found the rooms a little cold and found the heating was not working well. This was reported to the hotel reception but was not rectified during our stay. It was explained that because this was at the start of the winter season there was some airlocks in the heating system which were proving problematical.
The food at the hotel was very good with a nice variety of meals served promptly and politely. The breakfast was continental with a good variety to choose from, the scrambled eggs was particularly nice even allowing for the occasional piece of eggshell ( perhaps included for authenticity). Because we were in a fairly large group it may have been easier to plan the set meals but each meal consisted of a delicious soup course, an interesting main course and a sweet. Juices and water was provided on the table each meal.
If I could make a suggestion to the management it would be to extend the area near to the log fire so that the lounge area was bigger. There was very limited space to relax after dinner and if the table football game could be relocated elsewhere it could be replaced by additional sofas/loungers.
Overall this is a good hotel for those interested in the mountains and skiing. The amount of firewood stored by the surrounding houses suggest that the winters are quite severe at this altitude so timing may be an important consideration for visiting this hotel. For those who like excercise may I recommend a walk from the hotel up along the road towards the mountain where after 25 minutes walking you will find a lovely small bar with panoramic views over the valley where you can sit and enjoy your cool beer.
In this area of Poland English is spoken very little, however a few words of Polish learned prior to your trip will make your experience so much more enjoyable. And remember Poland uses the Zloty as currency which at time of writing was approx 4.23 Zloty to the Euro. If you go over the border to Slovakia you will be in Euro territory. Generally we found the prices in Poland to be very low and most things very good value. For a change the bar bill in the hotel proved to be a pleasant surprise.
