Handy site for stop off

Decent site with good, well laid out pitches of large size. The only issues we had are those raised by other reviews, so we knew about them before we came. Not a major issue but you need to be aware. Firstly the motorway noise is intrusive but not unbearable. The plus side is that the site is close to the motorway and easy to find, a great transit site. The other issue is that showers are an extra cost, really shouldn't be as the site fees are not particularly cheap. 50c a minute and you need to prepay. Jabbeka is a really nice little town excellent bakery/deli opposite the church about 500m walk. Open Sunday morning too. The bus into Bruges is excellent, line 30 and takes 30 mins. Drop off right in the centre of Bruges and runs every 30 mins. Also was free on the weekend in the run up to Xmas, I guess to encourage its use. Really good value. We came for the Xmas market, which was a bit naff, no local products, which we'd hoped for. Lots of food and drunk people in the grotte markt square where it's centered. We did find an outstanding kitchen shop and some great Belgian chocolate shops in the centre of the city. Lots of restaurants serving decent food and offering shelter from the diabolical weather, well it is December. We'd come back here and use this site as a transit before heading deeper into Europe, it's very convenient from the tunnel and ports being around an hour from Calais

No kids then keep clear, They don't value your custom

My original review was going to be okay, but after my experience with reception today I can’t say the same, as a good site is not just about pitches and facilities but good customer services too, so let my whinge begin:
Good things: Pitches, clean facilities, kids' play areas and family facilities, and a nearby beach with a huge soft play water area for the kids.
Bad things: At times a horrible sewage smell near the toilets, but also the same walking into town, so not just a campsite thing.
Kids being allowed to drive about like idiots on e-scooters, screaming and shouting at all hours, and be prepared for kids in pushchairs at 11.00 at night. And also allowed to draw on the roads through the campsite.
No separation of families and couples when they have ample room to do so, when the site is quiet.
Price - €50 per night; it’s nothing special unless you have kids. Additional costs for showers are 50c per minute. Sorry, it’s expensive enough! We have been in France, Italy & Switzerland for 8 weeks, and this is the second most expensive site we have stayed on, and I have had better value for €20 or less! Belgium does seem to be expensive – best staying in France, TBH.
Customer service – You have to leave the site by 11.00am and cannot enter until 2.00pm. Nothing happens on the pitches between these hours, no cleaning or raking or sweeping, so they’re not needed.
After spending €150 plus showers, all I asked for was 1 hour extra for a late checkout, and I was told it would cost me €10. When I questioned this and stated it was 1 hour, they told me that it was high season and they might need the pitch.
As I write this at 10.00 at night, there are 14 empty pitches within 50m of our pitch. Never mind all the others, so even if it is high season, they cannot need the pitch. After spending a decent amount of money compared to others (and excluding bar expenses,) they should learn to look after customers. It was only 1 hour I asked for.
When the stroppy young receptionist told me it was their system, I asked him to come and look at all the empty pitches, which, of course, he refused to do. When he asked me how I knew they didn’t need the pitch, I told him I used my eyesight. He chose to use a computer system, but then even if it is full tomorrow, the next lot of vehicles can’t get in until 2.00, and all I wanted was to leave at 12.00.
Sorry it is a personal moan, but when things are good, I will leave good reviews, and as mentioned, good campsites are more than pitches and clean toilets.
Check the photos - no room for one hour.
No kids – keep clear

Looks nicer than it is!

Cottage we rent privately and there is nothing wrong with that! But the park itself oh! Noisy though there are hardly any people standing but there are no real rules. A 24/7 shop where the same strawberries have been shriveling behind glass for 3 days and the bread is not refilled. Everyone walks their dog at the park itself, I was surprised but honestly I get it because you have nowhere else to go. Day and night highway sounds. Monday and Tuesday the dining facilities close to the park, no sign on the door with opening hours. On Sunday evening at 9pm wanted to get a fries there but they were already closed. They only had the pizza with meat and cheese because they ran out of vegetables.

Nice beach and nice park

I celebrated a part of my bachelors in the small beach of Jabbeke. The water park was very nice and cool to do. The slides were unfortunately closed, but that was probably due to a lack of rescuers that day. The flyboarding was great and very well supervised by Robbe, thanks!

Experience so far is just okay

We arrived Sunday all the way from.Scotland and stating for 13 nights. We have a large tent and on a serviced pitch with electric. Our pitch is well maintained tained and next to the toilet block, closer than I expected so there is a constant flow of people going past. Toilets and showers very clean BUT what I did not know when booking your ouch cost does not include use of showers that is extra! So 50c per kin doesn't sound a lot however a 5 min shower for a family of three makes it 7.50 ero per day, that adds up to quite an extra expense just to stay clean! We are well travelled and stayed on a lot of campsites in UK and Europe and its never operated this way, pitch cost always includes use of showers. Washing machines next to shower block going all.day and late i to the night noisy so if you want to sleep early forget it one reason i chose this site is for the lake/beach onsite, its clean and has slides however its right next to the motorway so relaxing in quiet is not possible at all. Will update this review as we continue our experience.
