Could do better

Room without glass to the window, overlooking the street. Door to the pool, still without glass. A single fan for a large room. The staff, though charming, leave at 4:00, and return at 7:00. It is more of a guest house than a hotel. Decent breakfast. Water fountain. Outside laundry, we came to get our laundry and bring it back to us. Small pool, which did not inspire me. The city center is not far, fortunately when you see the slope of the streets!

Disappointing return to a hotel that remembered better

We stayed for three nights in Casa Canela, Barichara, expecting to enjoy a place that years ago had left me a good impression. Unfortunately, the experience this time was very poor.
Throughout the stay we were forced to bathe with cold water as the heater was damaged and they offered no solution to it. The bed in the room was completely mismatched, it sounded a lot with each movement, making it difficult to rest well. The bathroom had a broken toilet bowl, adding to the overall neglect of the place. In addition, the pool was not in operation, another negative point that was not noticed in advance.
It's a real shame to see how the hotel has physically collapsed. The lack of maintenance and attention to detail is rating, which contrasts with the experience I remembered years ago.
The only positive thing I highlight is the breakfasts, included in the price, with three options to choose from. It is a good detail, but unfortunately does not compensate for the multiple deficiencies of the accommodation.
I hope this comment will help the establishment to take action and regain the level it once had.

casa canela

Casa Canela is located in the quiet village of Barichara, but not very far from the center. the rooms are ok. unfortunately the welcome by the boss is really not up to par. unpleasant thoughts from him, as soon as he arrived at the hotel. all the other customers felt the bad reception from the boss. I do not recommend this hotel for this reason.

A peaceful and enchanting place

You are warmly welcomed in this comfortable guest house, built with great charm in the style of Barichara residences.
The service is discreet and efficient. Breakfast (eggs, fresh fruit, corn pancakes, Colombian coffee, toast) is offered to you in a pretty patio by the pool
The friendly owner of the place, Mikael, can advise you on hikes, good restaurants and places to discover in the region.

Superb little guest house

This small guest house was excellent & the service of the owner & the housekeeper was superb
Whilst they do not provide breakfast they do have a fully fitted kitchen area well equipped to allow you to cook whatever you feel like - a very good supermarket is 10mins walk away
Whilst we didn't use the pool we did sit around it for a few hours & it was lovely & peaceful - the owner picking a mango off his tree & peeling it & cutting it up for us.
The bedroom & bathroom are both of a good size & spotlessly clean. The housekeeper will do laundry for a very good price
