Beachside Eco Perfection
Perf(eco)tion! Zen Cabaret is an eco resort right smack on Kite Beach in Cabarete. I visited for 8 days and felt what I received far exceeded what I paid. Farm -to-table vegetarian Breakfast and Dinner are provided daily - these meals are abundant, fresh and perfect as “leftovers.” The meals are packages in glass containers and left available to guests which makes it easy to also have healthy lunch/snacks throughout your stay. I ate off property only once because I’m not a vegetarian and heard great things about a local place for steak. But I did jot need to and was VERY satisfied with the meals. The rooms are very basic but I was not there to spend time in my room. I would suggest asking for an ocean front room of available. The daily 5pm yoga classes were a highlight for me (and I’m not even that crazy about yoga.) The 2 women who conducted yoga sessions were unique, calming and good at creating an all levels class with many modifications given how diverse the group of guests was during my stay. The staff is welcoming, available, helpful and yet also hands off. I felt I could come and go as I pleased and enjoyed the autonomy while also feeling very safe as a solo female traveler. I throughly enjoyed them all and got to spend a bit of time with the owners who I found engaging and approachable. The best part of Zen Cabarete is the location. It CANNOT be beat. The resort is along the main road so it is not without some street noise but I could not have been bothered. Truly cannot wait to return and next time will be staying much longer.

Nothing Short of Amazing
I randomly walked in here on a whim and now been staying at Zen Cabarete for about a month now, and I’m so grateful I found this place — it’s a true hidden gem.
The daily routine here is literally life-changing: morning workouts, off the charts good vegetarian food (and I'm not a vegetarian), yoga in the late afternoons.
The location is fantastic - Zen sits right on Kite Beach, with beautiful beach walks of 2–5 km (1.5–3 miles) possible directly from the property, depending on tides and surf. Kite and foil lessons are next door, and the main surf break at Encuentro is just a 15-minute bike ride away — bikes are provided, which makes exploring incredibly easy.
The owner and staff are exceptional - attentive, and genuinely welcoming — they make you feel at home from day one. They’re also happy to connect you with their local network for lessons, activities, and hidden spots around the area, which adds so much value to the experience.
If you’re looking for a place that supports an active, healthy, and connected lifestyle, look no further.

Inhonest owner, cheated me and badly deteriorated place
Book with them because if I book with bookyoga they are charged commission and I find out afterwards that they have charged me more. I tell the owner and he agrees to pay me, I remember him the last day and he tells me a film saying that in bookyoga it was wrong, when the two days before I had admitted that I was charged badly by the new girl.
I complain and give in and agree to go to the bank and pay me the next day, which he never does.
The next day he pays me in cash what he says he has, just over half and tells me he has no more, agrees to pay me for paypal something he never does.
The place is also not worth it, dinner is correct but breakfast is very scarce and only cold products and cut fruit for several days, the yogurt runs out and took several days to replenish. On top of that he tells me it wasn't included and bought it for me, which is also false because when I arrived there was yogurt and he won't pretend to eat the oats alone.
It's empty in high season, some days I was alone. Yoga classes are pretty basic and take care of a whole person who is not or hired, is just for food, accommodation and little else.
I ask about the cleaning of rooms and they tell me that in the 9 days that I am not cleaning them unless I was several weeks, I insist and I get them cleaned one day.
As other opinions comment the place is very neglected, needs a reform and
You hear the noise of the road in the room at any hour and that I sleep with plugs and a freediving device that emits white noise.
I've been on many yoga retreats and this has been the worst by far

Great hotel for a healthy, friendly and beach trip
Great experience, great hotel. I discovered a healthy lifestyle that I would love to carry on having in my everyday life. The best vegetarian food I ever tasted, from the chickpea curry to the coconut water everything was delicious! The yoga and fitness classes were the perfect combo. The hotel makes it easy for you to like a healthy routine that anywere else is difficult to carry. I could enjoy both a healthy lifestyle and have good quality time with my friends, surf and hang out in the beach.

My experience as a young remote worker
Extreme Hotels was exactly what I was looking for and didn’t know I’d finally find.
I’m a young remote worker who enjoys traveling while working. This hotel provided the perfect space for me to do that. Not only was I able to work peacefully, but I also took full advantage of every morning and evening. I got excited about the morning gym workouts and enjoyed the sea and the sun in the afternoons.
Thanks to the staff for being so kind—I have the best memories!
