Felt Like Staying With Family!

This place is completely run by locals so you’d definitely get an authentic Fijian experience. It’s like a mix of a resort and a homestay. Facilities were basic but adequate. Meals were buffet style, and these were definitely the best meals I’ve had in Fiji. The staff were phenomenal, they set this place apart. They’re all helpful and very friendly, and they treated me like family.
It’s easy to meet people if you’re traveling alone. There’s usually one huge table during meal time so it’s easy to interact with fellow travelers.
The location is great. You can snorkel right off the beach. Lots of activities you can do, like hiking, diving, visiting the local village etc.
If you have to be connected 24/7 though (like if you have to work remotely), this place may not be ideal. WiFi barely worked, as well as international eSIMs. If you’re gonna buy a local SIM, take note that Vodafone has no service at all (unless you go up the hill). Digicel works, but it’s still pretty weak. The signal is strong enough to send emails with attachments and to browse through social media, but it’s not good enough for video calls. I didn’t mind disconnecting for a couple of days though.
Overall this is the best place I stayed at in Fiji and I’ll definitely pay a visit again if I ever decide to go back to the country.

Absolutely fantastic

We spent 5 nights here and felt like family members.
Everyone was super friendly, the mood always cheerful.
Guitar was played and sung at the meals.
Just fantastic.
The cabins are older and it is not a luxury hotel here. You have to know this and then it is wonderful here.
The water to eat is included. Anything else water can be bought.
We filtered the tap water with a drinking bottle and never had any problems with it.
The arrival is by big boat and then you are picked up by a small motorboat from the hotel. Very adventurous in the swell.
We also dived at the “diving center” right next to the hotel.
All very freestyle but works tip top.
The bull shark dive was very impressive. At 10m depth is a great place where you can watch the sharks well.
It is NOT fed during this dive and so the sharks are very calm.
Electricity is generated by means of a generator. It was a little noisy sometimes at night.
We can highly recommend the accommodation and we found it very difficult to say goodbye to our newly won family.

Unwelcoming experience at the bar

We initially visited this establishment to have a few beers and assess the atmosphere before deciding whether to book a stay for a few nights.
Our group of six gathered for a farewell drink for a friend. After seating ourselves at an empty table, the manager, whom I believe is named Losalini, approached us and abruptly stated, “You can stay for 15 minutes, then you need to leave.” We were shocked and taken aback, especially since there were at least two other empty tables, and we had every intention of ordering more drinks.
This unwelcoming experience left a lasting negative impression, leading me to book my accommodation elsewhere. Unfortunately, this was the worst hospitality experience I’ve had in Fiji.

If you can, avoid booking on Trip/Expedia as the resort doesn’t get to collect the fees paid through those services!
I’ve had the most magical stay at Wayalailai, don’t think twice, just book your stay! 😍 Also bear in mind that on top of accommodation you have to pay obligatory $80/day for meals.
