Prime Location, No Frills.
If you are looking for a luxury resort, this isn't the place. However, if you want a safe, cheap, and clean bed in the heart of Amsterdam, Sotel Amsterdam Central is a good choice for budget travelers.
The location is absolutely unbeatable. You are literally a stone's throw from Central Station, which makes getting to and from the airport or taking day trips incredibly easy. Everything in the city center is walkable from here.
We arrived quite late, but the after-hours check-in process was seamless. The night staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and made us feel very safe which is a huge plus when arriving in a new city after dark. They were also super helpful with directions.
Yes, the rooms are small. Yes, they are basic. If you’re planning to spend your days exploring rather than lounging in the room, this won't bother you at all. It’s a place to crash.
Perfect for solo travelers or couples on a budget who prioritize location over luxury. If you just need a functional room in a fantastic spot with helpful staff, book it!

Black mold on wall around window that was one story above my head where I lay in the bed. Strange! You couldn't get to it if the place was on fire. The water in the shower sprayed all over the bathroom. There was nothing on the floor to keep it from spraying or flowing out, not even a slant on the floor. Crazy!

If you’re looking for a clean, affordable hotel in an excellent location, Sotel Hotel Amsterdam is a great choice. It’s just a 2-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city or catching trains.
The rooms are on the smaller side, and the bathrooms are even more compact, but they have everything you need for a comfortable stay. If you’re after luxury, this may not be the place, but if you want a basic, reasonably priced room in a fantastic location, it’s hard to beat.
The staff were all friendly and accommodating, with the after-hours night staff deserving a special mention for their professionalism and willingness to help. The hotel also felt very safe, with staff available overnight, which was reassuring.

Amazing location, straight outside central station! Our room was in the basement which lacked any natural light and the shower flooded the bathroom after each use which was a bit annoying, but comfy beds and helpful staff. Ideal for 2 nights stay if getting the Eurostar. Close to all the action!

Positive: there was an elevator and you get soap to take a shower.
Negative: the walls Are thin so you hear people talk and you also hear when people Open and close their door since the sound on the doors Are so loud.
The bed sheet was not clean so i laid on the duvet instead and you also need to change the mattress since it’s not clean.
And in the room the light will come in from the window since They have just something small over half the window.
