Top staff, annoying fellow guests..

We just slept at Hotel Gulpenerland and the welcome was just fine. A young girl and a young guest helped us very kindly. You saw that lady was new to the hospitality industry, but she really tried. I own a company with 3 locations myself, so I pay attention to that: that young man really managed her perfectly. Very quiet and professional, that's how it should be!
The food in the restaurant was really delicious, but we sat next to a bunch of guests... well, that was really too sad for words. They were just screwing around. They had ordered spare ribs from that young lady, but when it came she denied everything. Purely to get it for free, but they didn’t succeed!
The worst part was the backstabbing. Because that lady is Muslim, they sat behind her back and talked about how she must be a "fake Muslim" because she wasn't wearing a headscarf. And that's probably why she wasn't allowed to serve pork (spareribs). Really very fierce and disrespectful to hear that. From their conversation it was also clear that they had deliberately ripped a socket in the room, just to file a complaint for a discount. They said the food was "not their thing", but I heard them say before that it was a lot and that they really liked it. What sad cases.
I reported this at breakfast the next morning. That young lady even apologized, when she did everything right! Really no need for anything, because she was top.
Service perfect, food perfect. The room was a bit noisy but very neat. It may not be the best value for money, but because of the staff and how they dealt with those difficult people I still give a 5/5!
While writing this review, we read another review about broken outlets and bad food, and we are 100% sure this is coming from those same people. What a sad play! We heard them literally say that they had ripped that socket themselves to claim a discount. And about the food they first said it was delicious, only to make a scene that they didn't order the spare ribs. Anything to avoid paying. So don’t believe that nonsense; these people were purely out to defraud and defame the place because their free dinner failed.???

Don't go here bad hotel

Our advice do not go to this hotel, Sewer air in bathroom, laminate floor broken, Walking barefoot dangerous. Old leakage still visible. Sockets are loose. Everything filthy and dirty. On 2nd floor already annoyingly hot, also in the room. Restaurant very poor. We have never experienced such a bad hotel in 30 years of travel

Our stay at Hotel Gulpenerland was a great disappointment

Despite the four stars, which normally imply a certain standard, our stay was anything but satisfactory. The absence of a physical reception and the faulty elevator contributed to a sense of insecurity, especially given the accessibility for guests with special needs, such as my husband, who is an MS patient.
The room we were assigned was under the roof and was stuffy and warm. The hygiene left something to be desired, with dust on different surfaces. The outdated furniture did not contribute to a pleasant atmosphere.
The bathroom was also disappointing; the smell of moisture and the unreliable water temperature made its use uncomfortable and potentially dangerous. Breakfast, while acceptable, was characterized by inconsistent service and a lack of attention to detail.
In conclusion, the current management seems unable to fulfill the expectations of guests. This hotel does not deserve its four stars and I recommend avoiding it until significant improvements are made.

Varied experience: great service from one employee, but also major flaws

We recently stayed at Hotel Gulpenerland and our stay unfortunately had many ups and downs.
The arrival and the service
Upon arrival, the elevator appeared to be broken. Since I can't walk stairs, this was quite a shock. Fortunately, there was a very friendly young man at work. After some puzzling and measuring, he fortunately managed to allocate a fine room for us on the ground floor. He had a nice chat and managed to sell us a 3-course dinner in a very sympathetic way. His reasoning – that with my difficulty walking it was much more convenient (and delicious) to just stay in the hotel – was absolutely correct. The food was really delicious that first night!
The facilities (Life-threatening shower!)
The room itself was otherwise fine, but the bathroom was a big problem. The shower was life-threatening: the water then became freezing cold and then suddenly boiling hot again. I burned myself three times and we took the other nights as a precaution but not at all. This is not possible.
The second day: a completely different hotel
Where the helpful young man seemed to be walking around the hotel the first day, the next day it was almost extinct (probably because it was very quiet). Because dinner was so good the first night, we decided to eat in the restaurant again the second evening. Unfortunately, the service that night was in the hands of a lady who was quite blunt. The atmosphere was so off that we stopped after the starter. The breakfast was also a bit disappointing: it was certainly adequate, but really mediocre for the price you pay for it.
Night nuisance
To make matters worse, we got little rest at night. Because we slept on the ground floor, we were constantly disturbed by drunk cyclists who kept knocking on our window at night. When I wanted to call reception about this at half past one in the morning, I unfortunately did not get anyone on the phone at all.

Nice stay with top service and delicious food

Our stay at Hotel Gulpenerland was again very pleasant and even better than for previous years. The room was noticeably cleaner and felt fresh and well cared for, which immediately gave a nice first impression.
The service really jumped out. A young man on arrival came across as very professional and thought along well. Although checking in via self-check-in felt a bit less welcoming, I indicated this and was immediately helped in a personal and customer-oriented way. He checked me in as still manual and made sure I just got a pass, which I liked
The food was also delicious; everything was clearly prepared with care and of good quality. During breakfast we were also warmly welcomed by an appalled friendly and hospitable staff member, which immediately started the morning well.
All in all a very pleasant stay with excellent service, great food and clear improvements over previous visits. Definitely recommended!
