Do not reccomend/is this a scam?
I agree with other reviewers that I'm sure it's not the fault of the hotel staff that they are short staffed and aren't providing the best quality customer service because of that but I did find it serverely lacking anytime I had interacted with anyone and I'm not a high maintenance person. In fact I would love to have come and stayed and only interacted minimally with the staff and I probably wouldn't even feel the need to write this review.
Upon check in, I had to wait at the front desk for a beat before check in, which is no issue for me but it did set the tone a bit for this kind of disorganized unattentive quality to the hotel. It honestly did feel like a bit of a catfish because the room rates weren't exactly cheap and it looked like a nice place to stay online but that was my mistake for not doing further reasearch. When I got to the room I had to try a few different methods to get the key card to work and even questioned if I should check with the front desk, when I entered the room I turned on the first switch in the door and it flickered to turn on. As a woman staying alone I also noticed that the door didn't close on it's own so I had to be sure that it was fully pressed in for it to shut coming into the room and when leaving. There were little things around the room too, like laminant coming off of the kitchenette counter that I had passing thoughts about like "I wonder if I should take pictures of this as proof that it was already like this when I arrived" but I'm a trusting person so I figured there wouldn't be any issue. I didn't take pictures and I was also much more consumed with celebrating my friend's wedding and making sure that went well than this hotel being a little bit skanky.
I was set to check out the day after the wedding and I had been saying to everyone how I had payed for this late check out since it was an enhancement offered on the website when you book the reservation, maybe it was my mistake for not checking again at check in that I had the enhamcememt applied to my reservation but like I said, I'm trusting and put too much faith in this hotel that theh were actually this organized. The front desk called me to ask about my checkout time and I told them I had paid for the late check out and they asked me what time that was at as if they didn't know what I was talking about. I left my key card at the front desk when I left as it says to do on the sleeve thinking that this was the proper check out method.
A few days after returning home I noticed two pending charges from the hotel for almist the same amount of money, one around $623 (the amount that I was quoted originally) and one for around $671. I thought that maybe the charges would change and that maybe one of them was with the deposit or something but given my prior experience with this establishment I knew that I should watch them. Sure enough they both posted and I called the hotel manager the moment I noticed that they had posted. Btw, anytime I had called this hotel it takes a very long time for anyone to get the phone, you have to sit and wait for it to ring and ring and ring until someone actually picks up. I explained the charges to the hotel manager and he tells me that they both hadn't checked me out of the hotel and that the $671 charge was supposed to be a $67 charge for the late checkout which was the $45 charge plus tax. I did the math on my original bill later and the regular tax was only about 11% so I don't know how the tax on this late check out went up so much but I thought "whatever, at least I won't be paying double for my stay"
The hotel manager said that he would send an adjusted invoice to my email and I said "Thank you for your help" and trusted that he would. I did get an email after our pbone call and I opened it thinking it would be the invoice he mentioned. It wasn't. It was a survey about how my stay went. I thought it was just one of those automated ones and the email I was waiting for would come later. I'm a patient person so I waited for it to come and it never did. I waited three business days because that seemed apropriate. It hasn't come and now I'm trying to dispute it with my credit card company instead. Wish me luck, we'll see how it goes!
Overall I would not reccomend anyone to stay here and I certainly wouldn't again. If I ever need to stay somewhere that this seems like the only option I'll look for an Airbnb first.
