Best Location in Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay was our first stop on a 10-day road trip to Northern California. If you want a great location in the heart of Downtown Half Moon Bay, then the Half Moon Bay Inn is your best choice in the area. Check in was friendly and easy. The price was a good value for the location.
If staying there, be aware all of the rooms are upstairs, as stated on the hotel’s website. What we weren’t prepared for is how steep the staircases are. The drawback to all of the rooms being upstairs in an old building is heat rises and our room was uncomfortably warm, even with windows open, and stepping into the hallway was stifling. Our room was clean and comfortable but cramped. The room is not a place to hang out, but good to sleep. Also be aware that the hotel is in the heart of Downtown HMB, and with it comes all of the resulting street noise whether it be revving engines or loud conversations.
With all that said, we enjoyed our stay and the location can’t be beat. It’s great for a night.

Adorable Inn, but no chance of sleep

I wanted to love this adorable inn :( The location is great, the staff are super friendly and helpful, and the inn itself is ADORABLE. I stayed in room 6. I’m not sure if it was the flooring or the mattress but the bed was completely slanted. It was also super soft so you could feel every minor movement. It was SO hot in the room even though the temperature outside was in the high 50s. There was no way to adjust the temperature. We had the windows open and every fan going but we were both sweating in our sleep. We were woken at 6 a.m. by all the loading and unloading in the restaurant below. Needless to say we did not get any sleep and wish we had stayed somewhere else.

Half Moon Bay is our go-to escape; Half Moon Bay Inn is our go-to hotel there

I've lost count of how many times we've stayed here. We live just over the hill on the Peninsula and have our choice of hotels, but we don't see any reason to stay anywhere else. We love the look, the vibe, the people, the ease of parking, the walking proximity to everything. It's wonderful.
Two tiny considerations: it's a bit unnerving to see Fox News on in the lobby, but it's not always, and we just look the other way. And the "downtown suite" is best for people who are okay with street noise. It's quite lovely, roomy, and beautifully appointed. It just so happens there's a restaurant right next door, so it's louder than the other rooms. What a nice place to have friends over for a good dinner, though, with a full kitchen and plenty of seating and open space.
Our favorite room: the Colossal King. So pretty, a table for dining and game-playing, a wonderful, comfy high bed with a stunning headboard. For shorter stays the smaller, simpler Renaissance King has all you need, and looks right over Main Street.

Cozy Stylish Comfort

This Spanish style hotel on the corner of Main Street is lovely. Comfortable queen bed with comforter and white linens. We chose a room just across from the vanity equipped with fridge and tea pots. In the room is a coffee maker with real coffee!
We especially appreciated the peaceful private space.

Great Service from Leslie

Stayed here twice during our motorbike tour along the Pacific Highway Leslie looked after us so well, despite my friend testing her patience once or twice Spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms and one of my favourites of all the places we stayed The restaurant next door was also really good - not sure if it’s under the same management
