Incredibly Rude Woman at the Desk - February 20, 2026
I was amazed by the rudeness of one of the staff members - The woman at the desk on the evening of Friday, February 20, 2026 - who seemed more interested in finding ways not to help us, than help us (all while scrolling and texting on her phone for 15 minutes and making snarky comments, as the new staff member trying to learn the computer and answer two phones at once, tried his best).
I booked this hotel through Hotels.com and upon showing up was told the place was over-booked and "Hotels.com shouldn't have sold you a room." Alright... but... they did... soooo, can you help me or offer advice?" A older guy named Claude, who appeared to be brand, brand new to the job tried to help me as best he could, but he was clearly still learning and the younger woman had zero interest in doing anything that required work. When I say zero...
It was like one of those over the top exaggerated memes, "Ahh kids, these days, they have no work ethic!" where it sounds like I'm making it up when I say she was texting and scrolling throughout our interaction while the other guy tried to help me. "Hey can you at least get off of tik tok for a few minutes to answer my question?"
Hey, I get it. You're 20 something and you'd would rather be anywhere else than spending your Saturday night than working at this hotel and having to help customers. I've been there and had basic jobs I didn't like.
And maybe the hotel screwed up and listed too many rooms on Hotels.com... and that's not your fault.. but it is the job that you chose to have and get paid for. And now I'm here and asking for guidance. This was almost like she was going out of her way to be rude and obnoxious to our family. It was the most bizarre thing.
Through Claude I find out there was a sister hotel nearby that "might have room." When I asked if they could help me contact them, the woman told me I'd have to call them myself. And figure it out. "If it's a sister hotel that you know about then you must at least have the phone number, right?" Nope. couldn't get that. I needed to find the number.
Requests I made to get help as I called Hotels.com to try to get a refund were met with blank stairs and eye rolls. (Hotels.com actually has to get someone at the hotel to physically speak to them to confirm there was a mixup and refund the customer.) So as I'm trying to get Hotels.com customer service to call me and get Claude on the phone... Claude came through again as he was juggling 10 other things. This woman... maybe she'd moved onto youtube?
Overall, I don't know anything about this woman. Maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe she got bad news. I get it, we've all been there, and I don't wish her evil. With that said, such a small instance of kindness could have gone such a long way, and I will quite literally never even consider giving this place my business because she was the representative the business hired to work customer service. I probably won't even consider Woodspring Suites as a brand because of the experience.
TL:DR - A poor experience with a genuinely rude for no reason woman at the desk means I'll avoid this hotel in the future and suggest you do as well. And kudos to Claude for doing what he could. If there's any other hotels in the area, go snatch him up as a good worker and get him out of this place. To the woman at the desk if you ever read this. You have value as a person. You do. And I am sorry you were having a bad day. However you can and should have pride in your work and can do so much better. Please do better.

When I finally got to my room, I noticed a roach crawling across my door. The room was 60 degrees with the AC unit blasting cold air. I tried to turn on the heat, and it didn't work. My TV remote also didn't work. I noticed that when the room warmed up, it smelled.
They put me in a handicap room, which I did not request. The shower head was just hanging on a hose. There was no place to hang it. I requested a different room, they told me that it had to be another handicap room. If I wanted a regular room it was a $400 up charge.
Truly a terrible excuse for a hotel. Run don't walk away from this hotel.
