Nice place & access to Lake Superior

Cute motel with cabin like feel. The owners were very friendly and helpful for finding a local fish fry. There's a path across the road for access to Lake Superior. Very relaxing!

OK but some disturbing situations including owner's political sign

The owners are really trying. The exteror has been painted, beds are good, and quiet place. Packaged breakfast food and coffee in the lobby in the morning. Spotlessly clean rooms. Good linens.
We had to ask to have the gas room heater shut off completely since it heated our room to 80 degrees even at night! Owner told us to leave the A/C on! He said that people got cold at night if the temp went down to 30 degrees ( not even close while we ere there, August was actually hot this year!) We didn't like the idea of leaving the AC AND gas heater on all night....seems like an energy wast. So he turned off the heater. The room had no direct wndow open to the outside, which disappointed us. Room was very dark even with all the lights on. We had no hot water the morning we left. Owner was suprised.
Lastly, the day we left the owner had posted a tasteless 'joke' about Canada and Trump, on the big sign by the road. We mentioned it casually and he said he wasn't 'political' and didn't mean anything by it. We were not amused. We are dual Canadian/AMerican citizens and the current situation is not a laughing matter.
We won't stay there again.

Cute retro place to stay for a few nights. I wish this motel and every accommodation on this earth would have a bedside table for each side. Also-I hope the (very nice) owners would please replace all the towels that must have been new at the time of the opening from last century.

We loved the Sunshine Motel and Cabins! Anthony & Nou (the owners) are welcoming and have thought of every detail to make your stay wonderful. There are bonfires which they make happen and beach access to Lake Superior. The place is meticulously cared for. The opportunity for fun is endless with the Porcupine Mountains State Park waterfalls and hiking close by. Our stay was exactly what we hoped for. Thanks so much for all your hard work to keep this beautiful and amazing.

The cabins were clean, well maintained and comfortable. The decor seems to have been inspired by Cabelas, but that is OK with me. The staff, who are also the owners, were friendly and helpful.
