We were driving from Nevada to Homer and chose the Pioneer because it was on the edge of town and had parking outside the room. It was clean and quiet. Nothing fancy but just what we were looking for. Rated staff at 3 only because we never saw or interacted with staff. We cam i. Around 5pm and there was an envelope with our key cards awaiting us. Restaurant and coffee shops within a 5 minute walk. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. Great motel for our purposes.

The room was simple but had several kitchen amenities that were included: Keurig, toaster, microwave, fridge, freezer, cutting board. The room had ample travel coffee cups and plastic knives and forks. Bathroom had shampoo conditioner, makeup removers, and soap. Bed was more on the soft, smushy side- though not uncomfortable. Room was clean and staff respected the do not disturb sign. I would recommend!

Room had a nice kitchenette set up but also was quite warm in the summer heat wave. Fans are in each room, but only 1 window and it is all a single-floor motel.

The rate was very reasonable for summer in Alaska. Lovely staff in the office. It's an old building, so the older smell in the room was not unexpected, and didn't bother me. There was a fan in the room, which I love because it helps me sleep, and the windows had screens so you can let in fresh air. The bed was VERY comfortable - I overslept and barely had time to check out! I loved the Roku TV, and was happy for the hair dryer provided. The Kaladi coffee in the morning was much appreciated! It's too bad the counter tops were sticky, there were spider webs in the corners of the ceiling in the bathroom, and I even saw a daddy long legs walk across the floor. I'm sure this is due to the bit of weather stripping that's missing along the bottom of the door of my unit #6. Luckily I didn't see any more spiders that night, or I would have left and found another place to stay! I really wanted to give this place a higher rating, but I could have stayed at my friend's home for free if I was okay with spiders lol!
