Decent stay with some warts

We would consider staying in this hotel again. The positives included the location, which was great because it was close to the Franconia-Springfield Metro station. It is also across the street from the Springfield Town Center Mall. The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean.
The hotel appeared to be an older, reconditioned property. It is in need of further facelift. One of the two elevators was out of order for our whole stay (which appears to be the norm among hotels.) The remaining elevator ran slow. The halls were uncomfortably warm and lacked airflow. It was hard to bring our stuff into the hotel because there is a poor ramp and set of doors to bring the luggage cart through.
The washing area was in the electric room. One of the washers was down. The dryers were weak and required multiple times to dry a medium load of mainly T-shirts.

Good value if you don’t mind a dated property outside of DC. They have a free shuttle to the subway and while there might be a brief wait the drivers are terrific. Breakfast buffet is good, plenty of choices. Only one of two elevators worked and our key cards kept getting deactivated. Small things though. The staff were all exceptional, the room and bed were clean and the lemon ice water in the lobby is a great touch. There is a mall across the road but without a vehicle it’s a hassle to walk over there.

We had taken the hotels bus over to the metro and told that the bus stopped running at 10pm and to call the front desk to get a ride back. We made it back at 9:30 but could not get a hold of the hotel front desk. The call kept dropping. We called the reservation line, she transfered us and the call stored again. We were stranded. Once we did get back to the hotel, we were told the phones were down. They were still down the entire next day. This was a major inconvenience to us.

The hotel is very outdated. There was a party in the lobby that lasted till 2am that we could hear on the 5th floor. Room was clean but the gap around the door was disturbingly large. Elevators were unusable at times and inconvenient. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
