Wonderful conversion of space into comfortable rooms. This had a great space to walk. Even had an ice parlor across the street.

Poor and dirty

Booked penthouse and was total zero . Dirty, noisy and non working tv due to internet connection . Were happier to refund money than work on making room habitable . Found cobwebs , crumbs and a balcony that overlooks parking lot and little else . All at a premium price . Had to find Airbnb on 20 min notice thanks to desk . If u prefer overcharge and lack of attention this is your place !

**Beautiful Historic Property and an Amazing Bistro — But Know What You're Booking**

First, I highly recommend that anyone considering a stay at the Blackburn Inn take a little time to learn about the history of the buildings and grounds before booking. This is a beautiful, historic property, but that history comes with some realities.
The Inn was clean, but it is an old building. Our room had approximately 20-foot ceilings, creaking floors and doors, and an incredible amount of echo. Every sound seemed to travel. Both my wife and I had difficulty sleeping because of the noise. If you enjoy staying in historic buildings and appreciate all the character, sounds and quirks that come with them, you may absolutely love it. If you're a light sleeper or prefer the quiet of a modern hotel, you may want to stay elsewhere.
Our other significant disappointment was housekeeping. We booked a six-night stay and were told that housekeeping would service the room every three days—fresh towels, toilet paper, trash removal, sheets, etc. By the fourth night, we still hadn't received service. I spoke with a manager and was assured it would happen the following day. It didn't. The fifth day came, and again, no service. I finally went directly to the manager, who had to put in a special request to get our room cleaned. For a six-night hotel stay, I don't think a guest should have to repeatedly ask management for basic housekeeping. The property appeared to be short-staffed, and unfortunately it showed.
Now for the good.
Brian at the front desk was extremely helpful when we arrived, getting us checked in and settled into our room. In fact, every staff member we personally dealt with was kind, respectful and pleasant. I have no complaints whatsoever about how we were treated by the staff.
And then there's **Second Draft Bistro**.
"Chef" Patricia was, without question, the highlight of our stay. Her French toast was the **best French toast I have ever had in my life**—and I'm 64, so I've had French toast before! Her piping-hot cappuccino topped with cinnamon was equally outstanding. She told us it's one of her favorite things to make, and it shows.
I would genuinely recommend visiting Second Draft Bistro even if you aren't staying at the Blackburn Inn. Really.
Overall, the Blackburn is a beautiful and unusual historic property with some wonderful people working there, and Second Draft Bistro is a gem. But the lack of housekeeping during a six-night stay and the difficulty we had sleeping because of the acoustics significantly affected our experience.
**Hotel: ★★★☆☆
Second Draft Bistro: ★★★★★ — and I'd give Chef Patricia more if I could.**

Great visit!

Our experience here was very good.
We didn’t partake in the Restraunt because of all the local restaurants in the downtown area.
Do yourself a favor and explore the downtown area as there are several blocks closed to only foot traffic! If you’re a cigar enthusiast look up the Beverly Cigar Store there. The staff are very friendly and are great people to deal with.

A pleasant surprise and the loveliest of rooms. I was in town for Shakespeare and my friends' hotel was unavailable. In the end, I was happy for that. Everything was closer than a 15 minute walk. I enjoyed the art gallery on the 3rd floor! The staff was welcoming and helpful. I will be returning!
