Great Greek Hospitality
Family of 2 adults & 2 children.
Located just a 5min stroll to the main central area of Kardamena, Hotel Elga is a classic Greek Family run hotel/apartments.
Arriving late in the evening, Stella met us and checked us in, welcomed us with open arms and made sure we had everything we needed.
The atmosphere is great and very family orientated with lots of room between sun loungers, a large pool & children’s pool for the younger ones. You will never struggle to get a sun lounger / umbrella.
The pool area & bar is open to everyone from 0900 - 18:30 and is run very well by Leah & Petros.
A good selection of food & drinks at reasonable prices along with a pool table, chess board and table tennis to keep you entertained.
There is also a hotel bar available.
The rooms themselves are very typical Greek, bins emptied daily, sheets & towels changed during our stay. A/C is charged at an extra fee.
If I was to return, personally I would ask for a room facing the pool area, as this seemed to get a little less sun (and in August this can be a welcome break!!)
I would recommend anyone to visit the Elga & enjoy the great Greek hospitality.

Not worth it
The Hotel is 2 stars so therefore my expectations were not high, a clean comfortable room was what I was hoping for.
The hotel rooms are not cleaned everyday, we had some gyros on the balcony on the evening before and did not realise till the next day after the housekeeps had come and it had not been sweeped up or cleaned and was not for the several days we stayed after, we had nothing to clean this with. The beds are very hard and only with 1 pillow.
The bathroom is not cleaned thoroughly each day the sides needed wiping but this was not done. There was nothing available in the room for me to do this.
The bedding was changed twice in an 8 night stay. Towels changed 3 times but only due to our shower flooding and having to use them, in check in it states they’ll only be changed twice unless you speak to reception
Aircon is €10 a day, you could hardly notice it was on, it was okay when you woke up after being on all night but you could not feel the cold air when first turned on for a couple of hours.
The Marble floors are DANGEROUS. I am a young healthy women and fell down these stairs and ended up with some really nasty bruises, there are no grips on the marble floors in the hotel (they are on the outside steps) and as a result i fell down them. I was concerned that if someone were to hit there head or fall even worst, they could be seriously injured. PLEASE BE CAREFUL, ensure you have grippy shoes.
The pool bar has nothing on draught and wants us to pay cash. We did not use this more than once so cannot comment further.
There was a lack of customer service when we stayed. Many times we walked in and no one greeted us or even on departure no one asked if we enjoyed our stayed or even thanked us for staying with them. Again not a big deal but it was noticed.
Overall the hotel service was poor and the facilities. I am not sure what standards to expect from a 2 star hotel , i would expect safe and clean.
I feel that this is a fair honest and accurate representation of the hotel.

We are very sorry to hear that you had so many bad expiriences whilst staying with us with; having a piece of gyros on you balcony, having only one pillow, and so many other things.
The reception within our family business is open 24hours meaning there is always a chance where you would find either Stella or Petros available where you could talk to them about cleaning your gyros left on your balcony or you could have come and asked for the extra pillows to make your experience with us more confortable. Our hotel is a family run business and we welcome all of our guests like we would into our home and we always try to do the best we can so that everyone can have the best experience while staying in a family run hotel like the Elga Hotel.
You state that you where dissatissfied with the cleaning of the room, however our cleaners always would do their best to clean each room to the best of their ability everyday. We have 2 cleaners who are highly qualified in their job and give every room a gereral clean everyday of each persons stay, and as stated the sheets are changed twice in a 7 day stay unless asked for extra at reception. The towels get changed every 2 days for every room, and again if you needed extra clean towels you can ask for this at reception. If you had any problems with the cleaning of your room you could have mentioned these problems to reception and the issue would have been resolved for you, or we could have come to a conclusion to solve your problems. I feel there is always a solutions in the many complaints that we could take easy action but you never said anything about them to us.
As for the pool area asking if you had cash, we would never decline any card payments as it is the law to have access and use of a card machine in every business and we always like to give our customers the opportunity to pay in various ways. We always ask customers if they have cash, if not we always accept the card payment. As the saying goes, "Cash is King!"
The main priority and most important value for us is to keep our guest happy and help with any inquiries or problems that may occur while staying with us.

Stayed here for a week with my son.
I had previously stayed here 2 year again with my family and it was massively enjoyable stay. This time, the experience superseded my previous experience. Petros and family could not do enough for everyone. The room was big and spacious, clean and tidy. The pool area was fun everyday and also always clean and tidy.
Petros and Leah in the pool bar were amazing hosts and were always there if you needed anything. Petros and I also had a few last night talks in the main hotel bar putting the world to rights.
My 13yr old son, loved his time at the Elga, so much so that he never wanted to go to the beach. He made some lovely friends there, as did I, and I even met some old ones too.
Thank you team Elga for an amazing week.

Fantastic from start to finish
Just returned from a fantastic 2 week stay.
The hotel is in a fantastic location minutes walk away from sea, shops and restaurants.
The hotel is dated but it is well kept and clean, the beds are super comfy we slept brilliantly, the bins are emptied every day and towels changed when needed, one day our towels were took but not replaced however we asked Stella and were given fresh towels no problem.
The pool area and pool bar is kept immaculately clean the food is very reasonably priced and tasty, Leah is lovely and always greets you with a smile Pedros is also really friendly and helpful should you need anything.
We loved no sunbed wars, no matter what time you went to the pool you could always get a bed, the pool area has a really friendly chilled atmosphere's just what you need on holiday.
For a two star accommodation we were pleasantly surprised, we will definitely be back.
Thank you to the whole Elga family for making our holiday comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable, yous all work extremely hard and we as a family appreciate it, it made our stay lovely ❤️

The Elga Simply the Best xx
Just home from a great week in the Elga ,with my daughter Natalie ,I booked without realising there's 10 steps to access the hotel itself and two to access the pool area so my fault entirely. I have mobility issues waiting for hip replacement so it was a challenge fir me ,Stella is amazing could not do enough for us and so is her son Pedro and everyone works so hard to make your stay great which it was .I hired a mobility scooter which I parked over the road ,when it needed charging Pedro did it for me from the hotel ready next morning ,awesome .The Elga is spotlessly clean ,every day the cleaner comes in empty bins sweep and mop make bed etc .Pool area spotless bar great young lady was brilliant too ,food and drinks vety good and reasonable prices .gardener / pool area man works tirelessly every day ,Kardemena village just few minutes down one road ,supermarket few minutes . Village is do pretty great restaurants and shops faultless. This is our second visit to Kardemena .I have promised Stella I shall return once my hip is done, and I hope to keep my promise as the Elga and the family and staff have found a place in my heart now x Thank uou Stella Pedro family and all the staff it was wonderful xxx
