Amazing stay!

Such a great experience with Scaleta Beach Hotel! Amazing staff, lovely clean rooms and great facilities. You get what you pay for in some ways, and when we booked we weren’t expecting much, but the stay was beyond expectations! Not too far away from the city centre, which is well worth exploring, and the staff gave excellent directions and suggestions on what to do there. Beach access is great too. All inclusive food was great, something for everyone. Drinks are good only available from 11-10pm but this was fine for us. The staff definitely made the stay for us, especially Evangelina on the bar! Atmosphere is relaxing and more on the quiet side, just what we needed! Thank you!

Pleasant location and beautiful views but NOT for anyone with impaired mobility.

We stayed at Scaleta Beach at the end of the season and it was wonderfully quiet for most of our stay but... read on.
The complex is set on multiple levels with numerous flights of stairs and steps and many uneven surfaces including level differences that can be as little as two centimetres that can be trip hazards even for the sure footed - out room alone had six different floor levels. The hotel is set high above the beach - a good 250 feet and its a stiff climb so if you have ANY sort of mobility problems or breathing difficulties this hotel is NOT for you.
The all inclusive is adequate and the food is of reasonable quality but choice can be limited compared with some and note that local spirits are NOT included except raki which with tap water tastes like petrol and ouzo that you could run a plane on.
The rooms are an adequate size and are reasonably equipped but the balcony was small and ricketty and the shower involved a 6 inch step up from the floor level around the basin and then a 9 inch step down into the shower.
The views are stunning and the pool facilities are ok if a little tired but we were there at a low occupancy time and competition for sunbeds would be fierce at peak times and the sunbeds at the beach belong to the neighbouring hotel so they're far from guaranteed.
The staff were wonderful and I have absolutely no complaint about them whatsoever.
While the views are great the surrounding area is lacklustre urban sprawl and light industry. There is little by way of dining or night life to be had within walking distance though there are a a couple of the usual tourist supermarkets nearby and there is a car hire company close by whose rates are reasonable - Crete is a vast island by Greek standards and a quad or scooter wouldn't cut it if you want to travel any further than Rethymno. The hotel is also built directly above THE main road that runs along the north coast and the road noise is ever present though not generally intrusive.
In short - we had a pleasant enough holiday and there wasn't anything as such to complain about but I don't think we'd come back.

Mixed experience overall.
The hotel was completely repainted very recently (February or March 2026), most likely following numerous reviews mentioning humidity and moisture issues.
The biggest disappointment was the food. There is very little variety in the buffet, and we ended up eating almost the same dishes every day. Only the desserts really change, and even those seem to rotate every two days.
Another major issue is that the hotel and beach photos, as well as the description on Lastminute.com, do not accurately reflect reality. The hotel is not truly “beachfront” as advertised. To reach the beach, you have to walk and cross a road leading to the hotel opposite. The sunbeds belong to that hotel and are not available to guests staying here. In addition, the beach is not nearly as clean or as attractive as it appears in the promotional photos.
The all-inclusive package is also quite misleading. Not all drinks are included as one might expect. Only soft drinks and a few shots of local Greek alcohol are covered. This should be made much clearer before booking.
The swimming pool is clean and well maintained, as it is cleaned every morning. However, it is only open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Beach/pool towels also require a €10 deposit or fee.
As for the rooms, the main issue is the bathroom design. The shower area is separated from the rest of the bathroom by a curtain instead of a glass partition, and the drainage system is poorly designed. As a result, water easily floods the bathroom floor and can even reach the hallway area of the room.
We also experienced problems with the air conditioning in my father’s room. After several attempts, the hotel staff eventually managed to get it working.
The biggest positive point of this hotel is undoubtedly the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and always willing to assist us.
Overall, the hotel is acceptable for a basic stay, but the advertising, beach description, and all-inclusive package do not match the reality of the experience. More transparency would help future guests set the right expectations.

Great place to relax.

The view from both the pool and the room is excellent, especially at sunset. Beach with free loungers and umbrellas, and also some trees for shade from the sun. Friendly and helpful staff. The thing I preferred was the buffet. A lot of variety and every day some different dish. The moussaka, tiropita, and various savory pies, tomatoes, and peppers with rice were very good. We also tried the fried anchovies, which were very good. Fresh vegetables were always available. The desserts and the yogurt with the island's typical honey were also good.
The open bar was also convenient throughout the day. The early breakfast was also much appreciated. We left at 2:30 in the morning and were still able to have breakfast. Great place to relax without having to think about where to eat. The only criticism is the shower. The towel was mounted far from the edge of the shower, making it difficult to avoid water spilling out. However, the room was cleaned every day, so it wasn't a problem. Recommended establishment
