Move over, Fawlty Towers!!
I knew I would like it here, long before I arrived. The place calls itself a "b&b," which it isn't. It's a hostel.
But upon arrival at Gatwick, easyJet softened me up for a one hour delay ... and then landed at Luqa 15 minutes early.
So I got a taxi, and the driver, Tony, just dumped me down a back street: "It's around here somewhere," he said, reassuringly. "You can find it yourself."
I found Walter's, and the young lad, Mark, met me. There were shoes lining the walls in Reception and three signs up, warning me in three different ways not to underestimate the consequences if I failed to remove my shoes.
"Have you brought indoor shoes," he asked. "No," I replied. "I'm not a flip-flop kind of guy."
"Yes, I see that in you," he replied. "I have something for you," and he brought out a pair of pool slides, at least 3 sizes too big, and sterilised them for me.
Then he showed me to my room, told me that the air-conditioning is "very powerful," and I tumbled into bed, wondering exactly who it was that had the OCD.
The next morning, I passed the cleaner on the stairs: "Oh, they're all mad here," she told me.
I found Grace in the kitchen, putting eggshells into a blender: "They're to be mixed with my dog's food," she explained. "They're full of calcium."
Then, as I sat there with my mouth open, Penny, the spaniel, joined the conversation: "Boring, isn't she?" she said (telepathically), in perfect English.
Grace heard this, and threw a tennis ball for Penny to catch, whereupon I noticed that all the dining chairs have polythene covers on them!
Walter's scores very high marks with me, though, and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Merveilleuse auberge de jeunesse
Je recommande à 100000% cette auberge. Nous y sommes allées une semaine avec des amies et nous n'aurions pas pu rêver mieux comme hébergement. L'hôte est d'un gentillesse incroyable, extrêmement serviable, de bons conseils et toujours disponible. Celà est très appréciable lorsque l'on ne connait pas la ville.
L'auberge est très lumineuse, charmante et les chambres sont régulièrement nettoyées.
Nous avons apprécié l'idée de devoir laisser nos chaussures dans l'entrée, comme à la maison.
A notre arrivée, notre chambre n'avait pas de climatisation, l'hôte nous a de suite proposé de changer de chambre dès qu'une avec clim serait disponible. C'était le cas 2 nuits plus tard. (Je vous conseille fortement d'avoir une clim dans votre chambre, le mois d'août à Malte est très chaud).
Le rooftop est spacieux, nous y sommes allées plusieurs fois afin de prendre l'apéro où l'on a pu rencontrer d'autres étrangers fort sympathiques.
2 machines à laver, étendoirs, fer à repasser sont disponibles. La cuisine est entièrement équipée.
Pour avoir séjourné dans différentes auberges de jeunesse à travers le monde, celle-ci est de loin ma préférée. Merci encore pour ce séjour.
