VERY GOOD OPTION

CLEAN SIERRA HOTEL, ITS OWNERS VERY FRIENDLY, FRANCE ITS OWNER PICKED US UP FROM THE TRAIN STATION AND TOOK US TO THE HOTEL, THEY PROVIDED US A TOUR TO THE CERRO DEL GALLEGO AND THE FOLLOWING DAYS THEY PUT UP AN EXCELLENT TOUR TO DIVISADERO, CREEL, NAMURACHI, CUAHUTEMOC , BASASEACHI WITH END IN CHIHUAHUA.
VERY GOOD COST, COMFORTABLE TRUCK, A LOT OF PATIENCE AND VERY FRIENDLY.

Excellent guide and tour operator in Copper Canyon

I have not stayed at Jade Hotel, but I had his owner Alberto as my guide in my 4 days stay in Cerocauhui. Alberto was an excellent guide and a tour operator. He was always on time for planned activities. He was proactive trying to understand what I was looking for and suggested activities to meet my requests. He organized private hikes in the surrounding area, drove me to the interesting points of interest off “the beaten path”, provided all the relevant information and services. His English is very good as he had lived in the States for 6 years. From our conversations, I understood that he can be a “one stop shop” for all related to Copper Canyon tours. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend discussing options with Alberto.

Lovely Hotel

Lovely bright and airy hotel with colourful rooms. Beds were comfortable too. Courtyard was pretty with a little fountain and added extra of a lovely husky lying about basking in the sun. Food was tasty and affordable however options a little limited. Overall basic but charming hotel. 700 pesos for a room with 2 doubles and transport to el chepe included. Tours offered. Did a lovely walk into a pine forest to a waterfall ~2/3 hours 100 pesos per person for a guide.

Worst experience ever!!!

I stayed with a friend that I was traveling with for one night in this hotel in the off-season and it was basically my worst experience in a hotel or hostal un my whole life, this being said that I have travelled in Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, Brazil, Morocco... we both speak good spanish.
We arrived by train from Creel at Bauhichivo. We had called the reception at hotel jade before but they apparently couldn’t tell us the prices. We asked the driver from the hotel who was waiting at the train station but he didn’t know for sure either and said we had to talk to the owner and he would take us to the hotel. Two Mexicans used the shuttle as well to get to Cerocahui.
Once we arrived the woman in charge offered us a room with two matrimonial for 800 pesos. We asked for a cheaper room due to our budget and offered reluctantly a room with only one matrimonial bed for 500 pesos or the room with two matrimonial beds for 700 pesos. From that point on she appeared pretty annoyed with us.
We checked the first room for 700 pesos and noticed that the sink leaked heavily so she showed us the one for 500 pesos and another one for 700 pesos. We actually decided to take the room for 500 pesos but she basically just decided grumpily that we had to take the more expensive one. So we did because there weren’t many other options in town.
During the day she asked us if we wanted to do some tours but we refused politely.
When we went to bed at night we literally found hundreds of dead insects in one of the beds (check the fotos!). We hadn’t seen them before because they had been covered by one of the blankets. The hotelstaff had already gone to bed and we preferred to show them in the morning.
When we showed this to the owner the next morning, she basically told us that these insects were not venemous and that they just had died in the room flying around and had fallen on the bed. We tried to question that explanation but she started to grumble that we had the transportation included and we couldn’t ask for a discount in any way. Frustrated my friend payed the 1320 pesos that she asked for and we left the hotel. Immediately after we had left we noticed that it should have been 1020 pesos (700 for the room and 320 for food) and went back to ask her politely to correct the payment but she ignored the numbers, argued this time impudently that this was for the transport, entered the house and left us standing outside.
I do not understand how you can treat people like this, especially your guests while running a hotel. I can only recommend staying in a different place in Cerocahui or go directly to Urique where we found very nice people and accommodation.

Nice and relaxing stop in the heart of the Barrancas !

I actually stayed at this hotel 8 years ago when I first visited the Barrancas and well, it was still as nice as I remembered ! The village of Cerocahui is very quiet and rural, there are not lots of choices of restaurants and stuffs around so do stop there (Bahuichivo is the train stop) if you want to stay out of the croud.
There are plenty of walks to do around Cerocahui, we went to the cascades (1h30h) when we arrived and then to the Certo del Leon and other waterfalls the day after (3h - more difficult and steep ups and downs).
An excursion to Urique is also worth the price (for the views on the road down to urique and the village) and if possible have a full day to make the most of it (you can also do that in half a day and be back for the train on the afternoon)
The hotel is nice and clean, nothing fancy but confortable. It has no wifi (normal when you see where is the village), no tv, hot water comes after a few minutes so hang in there ! The price of the room does not include breakfast
Francia and Alberto are very welcoming and give good advices on what to do according to what you want.
The restaurant next to the rooms is nice, exclusively "comida casera" (home made typical mexican dishes) so enjoy ! And if you want to eat out there is another restaurant in another hotel just across the street (much more expensive though).
