Very Impressed
our family was staying at the hotel to attend a family wedding in Durban and we booked quite a few rooms because the location was perfect for us. I was absolutely impressed with the management and staff who went above and beyond to accommodate to our needs, i would definitely book there again.

The Coastlands Musgrave experience was, at best, mediocre ( and I’m being polite).
The check-in experience was weird - it felt like the reception staff were being inconvenienced with my arrival. The manager on duty at the time of my arrival didn’t bother to greet , despite making eye contact.
The room is tired - furniture is chipped and in need of maintenance. The TV doesn’t work - could have seriously damaged my eyes with the blurry and scratchy reception. The shower was a decent size and the best part of the room. The curtains are torn, furniture is sticky and very unpleasant. I used the blanket - kicked it off immediately as it had a stale and musty odour. This was terribly unpleasant.
The dining experience was dismal - food is below average - quality, presentation, and variety. The vegetarian option seems to be recycled from one dinner to the next days dinner. The salads at dinner and the fruit options for breakfast is not covered and attracts fruit flies/little insects and flies - which don’t seem to bother the staff at all. Cakes and pastries were dry and unappetizing, to say the least.
I would rate the food and beverage options a 4/10 - this being very generous.
The chef stood around scratching her head - I shudder to think what goes on when she’s out of sight.
Most of the restaurant staff stand around chatting amongst themselves in full view of guests.
The exception to this is Mbali ( breakfast staff) who was very attentive and pleasant.
Would not recommend this establishment .

Best buffet in town by far!
We love to visit Coastlands Musgrave as a family. Their buffet is excellent and we've visited a number of times for this reason alone. They also have an excellent SPA on the premises with very rationally l reasonable Spa packages. You can not do wrong visiting this hotel.

Excellent stay at Coastlands Musgrave
I recently had an excellent stay at Coastlands Musgrave Hotel.
From check-in to departure, the service was warm, professional, and attentive.
