Quirky
Returning to our room around 8.00pm I first noticed the rather quirky setups and rather scarce furniture, which consisted out of only one chair, a wiggly small table with some tea and coffee sachets and an electric jug. The TV had an selection of basic freeview channels but due to this room only separated by a locked door from the adjacent unit, I couldn't really turn it up loud enough because we could hear people next door laughing and I didn't want to be ignorant and let them "listen" to our TV. The bed seemed to be nice and soft first, but within an hour I became a little uncomfortable due to the probably worn out mattress which was also a little too short.
Next day, I tried to make us a coffee and realized that the power cord of the water jug was so short that I couldn't connect it to any of the two power outlets without standing it away from that table on the carpet. Also, I needed to go all the way to the communal kitchen to refill the jug because the unit had no more water tap or sink, which both were removed and the connections plugged.
I took my coffee and went outside to sit at one of the tables to enjoy the morning sun whilst my partner was still waking up. When I tried to get back into the unit I wasn't able to open the door from the outside so I had to knock until I was let in. Somehow, the door lock must have locked itself, which was the case after I tried it out then and there. Dodgy lock No.1 and lucky I wasn't alone, because even at 8am there was nobody anywhere in or around the reception area.
The rest of that day, we had to visit friends and had dinner there, came back and went to bed at about 9pm. N
Next morning, I was going to have a shower in the communal bathroom facilities before driving back to Auckland.
When I tried to open the door, I could not even turn the knob, even so it appeared unlocked. I started calling for somebody to help me out but nobody was near the area. At least the window was open, but my arms and legs were too short to even think about escaping from this steamy cell. I started to panic a bit and tried to use a bit of force when my phone fell out of my pocket onto the wet floor. I didn't even think about it and lucky I had it now, so I called my partner to the rescue.
It took here several attempts until she managed to finally open the door from the outside and to this day I still don't know how this could have happened. The doorlocks around this motel must be really worn out, and so is the rest of it, sorry to say !
Got dressed, packed up and left key in the mailbox at the office, which was still closed at around 9am.
Conclusion: The motel seems to be a little neglected and quite run down and even for $260 for two nights, including the "locked out and locked in" experiences, it is not a place I'd recommend again.

Terrible experience
It smelled musty and a plug in airfreshener was on.
Toilets and shower were dirty, hair etc in the showers. Toothpaste left by other users.
The door had been knocked in and a piece if plywood replaced the panel kicked out.
The kitchen was usable.
Outdoor chairs and area very neglected.
Overall NOT recommended!
