Elegant and restful stay at Maison Mulato

Maison Mulato is an exquisite guesthouse offering the perfect blend of elegance and relaxation. The centuries old mansion has been lovingly restored and renovated in an eclectic style marrying classical, modern and international influences. The proprietors, Corrine and Laurent, are gracious and friendly and provided useful tips before and during our stay so we got the most out of our days in the region and avoided pitfalls (like traffic jams). Maison Mulato was the calm oasis to which we could return after days of sightseeing and wine tasting.

Exceptional

An exceptional and luxurious place, a bubble of peace nestled in the heart of the pretty town of Libourne. Our stay was perfect, a warm welcome and a rare kindness. The beautiful tastefully decorated room is very comfortable, we felt extremely good there. The breakfast very tasteful. The hosts are great. In short an incredible experience that I highly recommend.

Gorgeous quirky hotel

What a find -the hotels interior design is a mix of traditional and modern design with a colourful Moroccan Riad vibe . lots of quirky individual touches . We loved the comfy large lounge area where we sampled an excellent local wine . Bedrooms are all individually themed -ours had a large comfortable bed and big walk in shower . Breakfast room overlooks the lovely garden . Welcoming hosts . Would definitely stay there again if in the area

Wonderful Stay , Wonderful Owners and Family

You enter this hotel through a lovely door from the street, but no hint what lies within . Kind of like Narnia ! The Maison is incredibly tastefully decorated and lovely . Our room was very large , bright, with a very comfortable bed . The garden is beautiful with grass , lush vegetation , seating and a nice pool ( unheated as is normal in Europe, why does no one solar heat their pool ?). You can also rent out the elegant room with the large hot pool , inside . But I miss the best part , the owners and their family . Valentin is the (adult ) son who is a lovely man and treated us like royalty . He is a master host, and very accomplished at athletics and other pursuits . Valentin’s father is the chef , as you can book dinner at the hotel . The dinner was top rate food and service from Valentin, served in a beautiful room . Highly recommend . As we are Canadian , wood fires are dear to our heat and they have one ! So cozy . There is a smart , friendly , house dog : Leia , as in Star Wars . We spent every late afternoon in the garden drinking from their excellent wine list ( reasonably priced ) and playing with leia . Miss her! Valentin’s mother was a great host, also - Thankyou . An over used phrase , but you really are treated like family in a very elegant hotel . We rented Ebikes and went to wine tastings /chateaus , more fun than taxis! Thankyou for having us, will return .
