Excellence with comfort and good food

The location, just off the centre of this small town, is excellent and enables a thorough, walking exploration of the WW2 history of the town. The church dominates the centre in a good way, and has a weekly farmers market. The restaurant and the rooms are exceptionally clean and sparkly, and the food is excellent, with good choices. The petit dejeuner is presented with a good fresh selection of items, and is pleasingly filling. I look for 3 things in a hotel room, and my room had all 3, cleanliness, comfort and warmth. The nights were very quiet and getting a good sleep was easy. The owners are very welcoming and friendly and could not do enough to make my 3 night stay a good experience.

Quite disappointing

Plus:
Friendly staff
Hotel in the heart of the village
Less:
Sinister rooms and in their juice for 50 years.... or more
Very expensive for what it is

Well located to visit the D-Day beaches

This small hotel, well located a few meters from the church of St-Mere-Eglise, is the ideal place to discover the beaches of D-day with your four-legged friend. We stayed here 3 nights in room no 7. Hotel: with free parking spaces reserved for the hotel and the Dog friendly label ideal for staying with your dog. All rooms are on the 1st floor, a bit awkward stairs for going upstairs with your luggage as well as if your dog is not used to doing stairs. The not so large rooms have everything to stay comfortably: an excellent bed, no closet but an open coat rack furniture for your clothes, just enough sockets, small bathroom with an excellent shower / toilet / single sink. (we had small problem with toilet spraying water at the sink but have reported this so should be solved). Very friendly welcome from the landlady, clear explanation of the dining options. We had room with breakfast. Breakfast 9€: simple 1 coffee, juice, half a baguette each, 1 cake each/ a slice of cake/ a soft cookie, 2 types of jam, 1 yogurt and 1 fruit mouse, butter... this was about it. Coffee could be requested for 1€. Every morning there was a saucer with a cookie waiting for our Golden Retriever. The Wi-Fi is strong enough to stream your favorite series on your tablet or laptop.
We have taken 1x supper in the restaurant, this is very tasty and catered for, small menu but therefore what you get on your plate is super fresh and tasty, a big compliment to the cook.
St Mere Eglise is a quiet village with an interesting Airborn museum about the paratroopers on D-Day, every night (we were there from Tuesday to Friday) there was a different food truck on the village square.
Ideal departure point to the beaches and surrounding towns.
We had an excellent 4 day stay with our dog and have been able to see everything in the region we wanted to see.

Help... let's run!

Help, let's run...
Room 8. Double at 85€ without breakfast!
A service that, outside Sainte-mère-Eglise, would be charged €60. NO MORE.
On arrival, welcome quickly made between two doors...
On Monday, the John Steele Hostel is closed!
The room is in the annex. Access by a spiral staircase all concrete, awkward and depressing. The ramp is in pitiful condition and each step crossed out with an aluminum wand has the most beautiful effect.
All overlooking a calamitous passageway!
Not at the end of our disappointment, the room is like a shoebox.
Barely 9 m2. Just enough to go around the bed (see photos)
With two pieces of luggage, this is the course of the fighter!
Clean but without more charm than a hospital room. The decoration is to give the bumblebee. As for the soundproofing... you might as well rely on the discretion of the neighbors.
Sea urchin on the cake... breakfast, which could put heaume back in the heart, comes down to the everlasting continental. NO MORE!
The hotelier, surprised by our reviews, assured us that he had never had such unpleasant comments. We doubt it...
Just go through the comments on the restaurant to make sure you don’t. What the boss must have failed to do!
If usually the Backpacker is Trip Tip. There for the shot, he crashed masterfully. Too bad!
