UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE
Being able to enjoy Izustarri during these days has been an unforgettable experience. Definitely the perfect place to finish my trip in the Philippines. From the rooms to the place, it makes you not feel like leaving there. Special mention to their owners Borja and Dafne, they are charming and make you feel at home. Wishing I was back!

Horrible experience
Terrible treatment. From the room to the dining room 600 meters along a concrete walkway with terrible slopes and in the wet and at night, you risk your life. In the same dining room a gasoline generator set, as if you were dining next to a truck. Awful!!!!!. They ask you for 7,000 pesos as a deposit, which after deducting what they think, they return the rest..., imagine what the account looks like...
You are trapped in the middle of nowhere, and obviously a prisoner of their services..., for example if it rains they close the kitchen (at 7:00 p.m.), so you are left without dinner.
Although it is one of the most expensive hotels in Siargao, they don't even make your room, towels or anything. You pay luxury prices for the Philippines and you have backpacker hostel services.
The worst experience in two months traveling through the Philippines. For half the price you have hotels in General Luna where you will be treated with care and the body of a king, and to visit the north of the island, which I do recommend, by motorcycle or taxi it will take an hour

That said, we feel it’s important to clarify a few points for future readers, as some details in this review are inaccurate or misleading:
The distance between the hotel rooms and our restaurant (at the time of your stay) was approximately 172 meters, not 600 meters. The walkway is concrete, well-defined, and part of the property layout, which is clearly shown in our photos and descriptions.
The generator mentioned is not located near guest rooms or dining areas, and guests are not exposed to it during meals.
The security deposit is PHP 5,000, not PHP 7,000, and this is clearly communicated in advance in multiple pre-arrival emails. Any deductions, when applicable, are itemized and explained.
Izustarri is not among the most expensive hotels in Siargao, and we offer daily housekeeping, fresh towels, and attentive service. We take great pride in our cleaning team and the overall upkeep of the property.
Comparisons to local homestays or budget accommodations at half the price reflect a different concept and level of service, and are not directly comparable to a small, design-led boutique hotel.
Lastly, the photos attached to this review were taken at Burgos Beach and Taktak Falls in Sta. Monica, which are separate locations and not part of Izustarri.
We understand that our location—quiet and intentionally removed from General Luna—is not suited to every traveler. Guests looking for a more central, resort-style experience may indeed feel more comfortable staying elsewhere.
We appreciate all feedback and continuously work to improve, but we also feel it’s important that future guests receive an accurate picture of what Izustarri offers.
