Great Hospitality
I recently stayed at Manudi Glenfallsedge Rest, Nuwara Eliya with my parents for two days, and it truly felt like a home away from home.
The location is excellent—very close to the city center, just a 5-minute walk to the main road. Popular spots like the Araliya Food Court and Grand Hotel are within walking distance. Almost all rooms come with a balcony view, and the property has a beautiful rooftop dining hall with glass walls, offering breathtaking views from Lake Gregory all the way to the Piduruthalagala range.
The rooms are spacious, cozy, and well-equipped with hot water, a heater, clean blankets (they even provided an extra blanket for my mother without us asking), and tea/coffee-making facilities.
The service was outstanding. The caretakers, Duminda and Kaushal, continuously went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. My package included breakfast, and they served a delicious mix of English and Sri Lankan breakfasts on different days. On the second day, the owner herself joined us, personally serving meals and showing genuine warmth and hospitality. As an extra kind gesture, they did not even charge for my parents’ dinner when I had ordered food for them while I was out.
This level of care and attention made our stay exceptional. The combination of great location, stunning views, comfortable rooms, and heartfelt service makes this place truly special.

Locked Out at Night and Let Down in Every Other Way
We stayed at Manudi Glenfallsedge Rest from 26 to 28 December and the experience was very disappointing. On the night of the 27th, we went out for dinner and returned around 10.30 pm, only to find the main entrance locked and our family stranded outside in the cold and dark. The manager was asleep, and we were only able to get back inside because another guest heard us calling out and came to help.
Rather than apologising, the manager insisted that we should have informed him we were going out, even though the property does not provide dinner and guests are effectively required to leave the premises to eat. This response felt extremely unprofessional and left us feeling very unsafe.
The family suite also had several issues. The toilet had a leak from the pot, which was both unhygienic and inconvenient. In addition, the suite is located directly under the restaurant, and from about 6.30 am staff begin dragging and moving furniture above, so it is almost impossible to sleep in.
Breakfast was equally underwhelming, consisting of just some bread, butter and an omelette, with no variety or apparent effort. Considering the price and how this place promotes itself, the overall quality falls far short of expectations. There are many better options in the area, so it is advisable to stay elsewhere, as you risk literally being locked out of your own hotel at night with your family.

Well worth the stay
Two rooms to fit in our family of four, suited us perfectly. The hotel is a few minutes from the town centre, but that was probably a plus. It was quiet, with great views over the valley. The lovely people there gave us probably the best breakfast of our trip - hot, fresh to order and delivered with a huge smile.

Great place to stay in budget price, budget room is very small, so pls take the next 2 option rooms, hotel is very clean, dining area is wonderful with glass cover, care taker lady very helpful and friendly. Wifi speed can improve. Breakfast is wonderful
