An absolute hidden gem
An Absolute Hidden Gem for Families!We stayed at Sulanga Luxury Chalets with our extended family last June during our trip to Sri Lanka and had an amazing experience. The property is located in a quiet residential area, and while you shouldn't be deceived by the approach road, the place itself is beautiful, spotless, and incredibly well-kept. The crew is absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond for us; since four of us were celebrating birthdays that month, they completely surprised us by beautifully decorating the space. On top of the fantastic hospitality, the food was delicious and well-cooked, and the kitchen was kept to a very high, pristine standard. While it is not a super luxurious resort, it offers incredible value for money with high standards, making it the perfect spot for family chats and a fun karaoke night. We are already looking forward to returning for a longer stay and highly recommend it!

Horrible. Absolutely horrible
Do not be mislead by this place. I recently stayed at Sulanga "Luxury" Chalets and it was horrible.
We were looking forward to spending time with our friends at this hotel, however, upon arriving, our excitement had faded away, and had been replaced with a sense of disgustment. The hotel is not isolated and situated in a picturesque scenery as shown on their pictures, instead, in the middle of a town full of farms and houses. Also, for bigger vehicles, it is very difficult to go to the Chalet due to a narrow access road and the construction of many houses in the area. Sulanga is so packed in the town that we could even oversee the neighbours kitchen area and toilets...
And from here it just gets worse. When we arrived at the place, we were met with a man giving out wet wipes from a pack, and very loud radio music. There was hair on a sofa and dead insects on the floor. Not the best first impression. The rooms were filthy- they hadn't been swept nor dusted for days. On every table was a layer of dust, and on the floor all sorts of disgusting things. Even the balcony of one of the rooms was covered with bird poop on its floor and and chairs. Some of the floorboards were bent upwards and had lumps- a safety hazard for those in the hotel. Speaking of safety hazards- their "pool". When we had asked the property manager, they said that they would clean and heat up the pool, but when we checked it, the pool was full of dead bugs, plastic and some grime or mould inside. It looked like it had some ancient bacteria. According to the property manager, he didn't have time to "chlorinate the pool". In fact, they didn't have time to clean anything. The glass on the balconies and in the bathrooms all had marks on them and looked very unclean. Bedsheets had disgusting marks on them and hadn't been replaced. Some even had holes in them. The walls also had multiple stains of many colours. In the bathrooms, the toothbrush holders had some fungus and old toothpaste inside it.
It's a shame because the building is nice, but extremely badly maintained. The only positive was that the food was pretty decent. Still, that couldn't make up for how bad the place is.
I have written a review on Google too, and when I look at other low reviews of the place, it's apparent that the owner cannot take responsibility, and instead blames the customer. Ludicrous.
