Very kind and friendly staff, bringing fresh fruit and coffee daily, helping organise a scooter and taxi for my trip to the train station.
Meters away from the beach, crystal clear water, it's a must for people seeking a calm and peaceful stay. One of my favourite places to stay in Thailand.

Right on the beach - friendly staff, nice breakfast served at the beach. Walked next door for dinner. Quiet and relaxing. Gave us an upgrade, though room was still very small.

Warning: Don't go here! You'll be treated like a dog.

The resorts location displayed on Agoda’s map was wrong. (Deliberately in my opinion) According to the map and text, Kasemsuk Resort was a 3 km walk from the train station to the main beach (Baan Good), but in fact it was a 6,7 km walk and far from the main beach. The real location was shown on Google Maps own website, situated far from Baan Good behind the temple in the middle of nowhere. It’s even closer to a a minor train station north of Ban Krut (2 km) As a result we had to walk double to what we expected and had to cope with stray dogs at night before arriving extremely tired at the resort. Our complaint was waived away by the owner and she persisted in saying it was only 3 km from the train station. Then she asked us if we would like to rent a motorbike but when we answered that (because of the long walk) we were too tired to do anything at all, we were treated like a dog and ignored for the rest of our stay. Being out in the bush with vicious dogs all around you depend on some kind of transport and they love to take advantage of it. In the morning we were yelled at: “Hey you! Breakfast!” Not ony was this very rude, the stuff on the plate was hardly to be called breakfast: two slices of stale bread and raw eggs. During our stay they were in the middle of a big renovation and being the only guests, we were upgraded to a bungalow near the sea. Not as a compromise but with the idea not to be bothered by us. There was no internet reception in the bungalow, the bed and pillows were bone braking hard, the aircon and fridge were very loud and they kept the lights outside on at night. All of this made it very hard to sleep. During the day we were bothered by the chemicals and paint used at the bungalow next door. Not only when sitting on the veranda, they were soaked up by the aircon too! On the day we left, they were happy to let us walk the 6,7 km back to the train station. If we had only known the real location of this place, we wouldn't have booked it at all. This combined with the staff’s long faces ruined our stay. It was the worst place we ever stayed during our three years of travelling.
Beside the same review as written above, we wrote Agoda and the Thai Tourism Bureau an e-mail to make them aware of our concern. Never did we receive an answer but on top of this all, Agoda or the owner removed our review from their site but changed the location on the map.
So please, don't rely on Agoda's reviews when booking a stay and don't ever go to this awfull "resort".

Beach escape to a lesser known area

My girlfriend and I accidentally stumbled upon this little known resort while looking for a beach resort at Hua Hin. Kasemsuk is actually a few more hours further south by train. The total length of the journey by train was around 7/8hrs, a tad long but worth the ride if you want to visit somewhere very quiet and truly an escape. By train we got off at the Bankrut station from Bangkok. Book tickets early to get better seats/trip time. We unfortunately suffered delays and arrived late but thankfully the resort let the stationmaster know at Bankrut that we were coming and he called a taxi service to bring us to the resort around midnight.
At the resort we were let into our seaside cabin, a free upgrade to our regular room booking, even late into the night. The cabin was air conditioned clean, relaxing, and intimate. There's a lovely private beach and breakfast is free and served beachside. The beach was lovely and at times we felt like we had the whole thing to ourselves. They also offer a scooter/motorbike rental service which we used to get to Bankrut town proper. Bankrut is a small seaside town with amazing Thai seafood restaurants one must try. We also used the scooter to explore the temples around the area including one monastery perched atop a hill which overlooks the ocean and you can see it from kasemsuk beach resort actually.
Kasemsuk offers really good value. We spent around $65 for two nights. So low compared to other resorts. Another resort relatively next door to kasemsuk was charging around $90+/day for their seaside cabin. One word of caution though is the resort owner doesn't speak English that well but her daughter spoke decent English and helped us out throughout our stay. She even dropped us off at the train station on our return trip. Highly recommended if you're willing to go for adventure and escape somewhere relatively unknown.
