Great place to stay to explore Melbourne

Loved our stay at the Veriu. We were arriving early morning from the UK so arrangements were made for our key to be left ready in the key safe so we could access our room prior to when reception opens at 7am. This was a smooth process and was a godsend to be able to have a quick nap and shower to recoup before heading out to explore Melbourne. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean and had a good size balcony with table and chairs. It also had a fridge, freezer, cooking facilities, coffee machine and washing machine which were really useful. The only thing I would say was that there wasn’t much clothes space. We were here for 9 nights and it was a perfect location for us. We really liked the vibe in Collingwood and the bars and restaurants in this area. It was also close to public transport links to get you into the CBD. We were here for the cricket and we actually walked to the MCG which was quite a scenic walk going past Fitzroy Gardens. The rooftop pool area was great, had nice seating with fire pits and bean bags to sunbathe on. When we got nice days it was a proper sun-trap. It also had a hot tub but we didn’t use it. It doesn’t have a bar for hotel guests so if you wanted a drink you’d need to take your own or go down to reception to purchase. The staff were friendly and very helpful with any queries we had. I would definitely look at staying here again if I get to visit Melbourne in the future.

Very helpful staff. They helped me get my 3x 32 kg bags on a trolley and carried it to my room without any hesitation

Excellent hotel - clean, secure, soundproofed, blackout curtains, excellent kitchen amenities, comfortable bed, great location. My only niggle is that the bath”room” has no door - that utterly stupid design choice. What you have is a partially frosted shower cubicle next to the kitchen, and on the other side of that is a basin. Then the toilet is in a little… closet (with a door!)… along with the washing machine. The only mirror is above the basin, there isn’t one in the living area of the apartment. If the twin rooms are the same (doorless and wall-less bathroom, one mirror) then I personally wouldn’t book it with a friend. Rooftop hot tub looked great though!

Week in Melbourne

The location was excellent for transport, ( we were out for long days sightseeing) )supermarket shopping and lots of eating places. The staff were most helpful. The room was lacking various items like instant coffee ( only had a coffee maker for little pottles that we couldnt work out how to use and didnt want strong coffee. , face flannels, and beside table for hearing aid chargers our glasses etc. Lay out was ok but awkward for moving in some situations. Ceiling needed cleaning or paintng as looked terrible for the week there. Maybe we struck a poorer room Good for self catering
