Fantastic!

Best place to score in all of St. Kilda!
Cheap & easy-going place and so were the women that stayed there!
One extra advantage is the place's location; There are quite a few bulk-billing doctors in the area, when you need to go and get script for some antibiotics afterwards...

Dont stay here

I spent 2 nights at St.Kilda East Lodge and I feel dissatisfied with the acomodation and description of the property. there were cobwebs and spiders everywhere, the facilities (mostly) worked but did not feel clean and there was just enough space for one person squeezed and the showers felt like they were made of polystyrene or similar, there was rarely any toilet roll and the showers didnt have a holder for the shower head. The kitchen felt dirty, there was mouse/rat poison in the cupboards with the pans. I felt unsafe and i didnt feel like my stuff was secure, even in the lockers. I paid over $100 for 2 nights, the accommodation did not feel worth that kind of money. The property was hard to find with overgrown plants at the front and it did not feel secure as the front door was always open. It felt like a crack den. There was no light in the bedroom/mezzanine and no powersockets visible either. It felt very much like a storage room with a bed.
I submitted a report about people smoking weed and the condition of the bathrooms/showers and the owner said they spoke to the guests who said no one was smoking and the bathrooms are as described. I was not satisfied by this response, because it seems obvious the guests arent going to admit to smoking inside when they are not allowed to. There was a very strong smell of weed when I walked in and I saw one individual putting out the cigarette/joint. Do not recomend. Would never stay again

Dangerous and disgusting

Dangerous and disgusting. This place is not a hostel. It's a halfway house full of drug addicts. My phone was stolen and I was assaulted. It should be shut down. Crack pipe found, smoking indoors, it can't be legal and needs to be shut down before something more serious happens.

Quite possibly one of the worst hostels I’ve stayed at in Australia. There’s no signage on the outside of it, so it is quite hard to locate. I wasn’t sent any check in instructions and check in wasn’t until 5pm, so that’s quite inconvenient.
The bed that I was put in was right beside the window with a screen that was broken, since the room is on the ground floor, someone could easily access the room. The lockers are also broken so you can’t securely store your stuff. At 2:30am I was woken up by a person moving stuff around right outside the broken window and it was a very scary experience.
The cleanliness of the hostel was abysmal. The whole place smelt like cigarette smoke. The bathroom smelled of urine and there was no toilet paper the entirety of my stay. For the price of the room ($100) I was extremely disappointed. Just get a hotel room for that price.

More of a home away from home

The hostel is well located and provides free parking. It is a normal house and not a hotel at all. A few people stay there and the place is quiet and looked after. The owner is approachable and tries to help if asked. It's more of a home away from home but nothing flash. Comfortable and peaceful.
