Sorry we had to cancel

The management and staff at this hotel are excellent. On Friday I had a minor operation and developed complications. The surgeon told me I was at high risk of developing a blood clot if I flew. At two days notice I had to cancel. I have always wanted to visit Kiev to experience this historical heritage. We also wished to show solidarity to the Ukranian people. The hotel had arranged a taxi transfer for us as well. Even though sadly we never got to the Hotel Gintama I know it is a great place through the courtesy and respect they displayed. I hope to see you around Christmas time and experience your beautiful hotel and city

Avoid this hotel?

What an awful hotel! It advertises itself as a 4 star although I would hardly rate it a two! It’s situated on the first floor of an apartment building, very dated and dark. The hotel organised a taxi from the airport at a cost of £35. I returned to the airport at the end of my stay by Uber. The cost was £9! When I arrived at 9pm I was hoping to have a bite to eat in the restaurant. I was informed that the restaurant closed at 7pm. At 7pm, I would think that would be the time it opened. I popped into the bar for a drink and popped right out again - a dark, uninviting ‘bar’ that resembled a morgue. I went back to my room which was the temperature of a fridge - the receptionist informing me that the heating doesn’t get turned on until November. I was handed an electric heater. I turned on the television - no signal! I was beginning suspect I was in an episode of Fawlty Towers!
Would breakfast be any better? No! It was probably the worst breakfast that I have ever had. To cap it all, guests were only allowed one cup of coffee and you had to pay extra for each successive cup. The only slight positive in a nightmarish stay was that the receptionists were friendly and helpful.

Not very cozy

I could hear all the people in the corridor and in another room. It was very hot in the room and no way to make it cooler. There was only one set of towels for one person, which we found out in the morning after showering. Had to share.
The bed was awful. The mattress was so hard that I could not sleep and my hip hurts for a week now.
They have parking for one car only. No free water in the room, no tee/coffee maker. And during check-out you have to wait till they check the room in case you stole something. Very soviet-like.

One caveat

If you arrive at hotel after midnight with a friend or a guest and they spend time in room, you will be billed extra 600 grivnas. Which was a surprise rule. They have an otherwise nice hotel. If the had some weights or exercise equipment, it would have been great

Good location on the map, but nothing else.

I selected this hotel for its good location in the map, but the map did not show, that in order to reach the Hotel, one has to clime to the top of the hill - and obviously downhill as well to the City center. Moreover, our room was so small, that in order to reach the other side of the bed, the stool at the table to be removed beforehand. And most important, the bad was so low quality that you could feel the springs while used it. Please do not go there. And seems other travelers knew it, since the Hotel was almost empty most of the days we stayed there. Also, at the check-out we could not pay by credit card, as their system was out of order. Luckily we had cash with us - otherwise?
