Best hotel in Hoi An
10/10 – Absolutely Fantastic Stay in Hoi An!
We had an amazing experience at this Airbnb! The hosts were incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. The service was on par with a high-end hotel – everything was perfectly organized, and their hospitality was unmatched.
One highlight was after we checked out: it started pouring rain, and we got absolutely soaked. The owners immediately offered us another room so we could dry off and freshen up. It was such a thoughtful gesture that we’ll never forget!
And let me tell you about their passionfruit juice – hands down the best we’ve had in all of Vietnam. We couldn’t get enough of it!
If you’re visiting Hoi An, don’t think twice about staying here. This place is a gem, and the hosts will truly make you feel at home. Highly recommend!

Great location, but ... here's the truth
This stay was an unfortunate experience. While I had just come from the FCC Angkor in Cambodia, I was sold by the positive reviews about how nurturing and homely this place was supposed to be. I thought, money can't always buy a place that feels like a home away from home. So many reviews spoke so highly of Lyna and the positive vibes. I too was excited by a homemade breakfast, laundry service, and positive energy. This was not even close. It ultimately became a comedy of errors.
The first night I arrived, I was not greeted by Lyna. In fact, there was no one at reception. I get on the wifi and text Lyna, after which, a grumpy looking lady who spoke no English (I get that I'm in Vietnam and should not expect this - although far from positive vibes) took me to my room. Please note that the rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floor. I had to drag my luggage up two flights of stairs. The room was tiny. There wasn't even a comfortable place to put my checked luggage.
Then, it began...I take some snacks out of my bag and put it on the console. Within the hour, I notice that an army of ants were attacking all of my open snacks. Great. Small issue. I start noticing that there are scavenger ants everywhere (just 2-3 in one spot) but searching constantly on the console, at the bathroom sink, on the room floor. I decide it is unsafe to leave my luggage on the ground and zip it up at night and hang everything I can on the coat rack (there is no closet). I thought my items would be safe hanging (away from a wall) 5 ft off the ground. By the end of my stay, the ants found that too. Partially my fault as I had *forgotten* that there was a bag of half eaten chips from the plane that I had tucked away in a pocket. The ants also went after my dirty laundry that I had hung in a bag off the floor too. Nature prevails.
Then, I decide to take a shower. No hot water. Hmm... Turn the handle all the way to the left, wait. all the way to the right, wait, nothing. This is a bad sign. But oh well, it's very hot outside, the tepid water does feel a bit refreshing. Next day, come downstairs, I have apparently missed the breakfast I was never told about. Oh well again. Stay out all day. Come back at night. Try to shower and brush my teeth at 11pm. Teeth first. Water sputtering. Wait, what's happening. No water comes out of the tap. Check the shower head. Water sputtering then completely stops. Yes, you read that correctly. Both the shower head and the faucet are now no longer conduits for water. Interesting. Frantic text to Lyna. No response. Oh and by the way, had to walk outside of my room to the stairwell because the wifi is so spotty that only sometimes does the wifi work in the room (don't even think about trying to take a wifi-call in there). Rinse my feet. Go to bed.
Next morning, Lyna has read my messages (she has read receipts on) at 5am. No response. It's 11am. I am eating breakfast, which is fine, but does NOT look like the tripadvisor photos from years past. Please adjust your expectations. I see Lyna, who greets me from a few feet away "so sorry! I went to bed early." Before I even have the time to ask "wait what happened?", she has left the room. No explanation and at this point, I still think things are quite comical so was asking in a laughing way as if there was a great story we could both commiserate about (my son/x/y accidentally did x or y - so sorry. It won't happen again). Day 3, I decide to take a shower during the day so that if I don't have water, someone can actually help me! Success - there is hot water, and I enjoyed the shower. You know, be grateful for the small things.
Day 4, it works. Hurray. Day 5, great, not working AGAIN. This time it was 11pm, but she was up. Apparently, she says, there are water outages and it's Hoi An that doesn't have hot water?! But there is water in the tap....it just needs to be heated by your water heater on site... Doesn't offer any remediation until the next day "I'll have my technician come out and move you to another room." I didn't actually want to move because I was so close to the end of my stay, but it appeared a technician had come out and needed access to my room. I move to a much more comfortable room with a desk and the WIFI WORKS. Sigh, should have asked to move after night 2. No ants in this room either except that there was a cadre of mosquitos. During the day I kill 3 mosquitos, then I killed 5 more in the evening. I have now decided I'm getting out of here and book a hotel in Da Nang for the next day. They just kept appearing out of nowhere. Now, as a person who always gets bitten, I am worried...there must be more.
I take out the big guns. 100% deet - spray it on my pillow, next to my pillow, on long pants that I drape over my pillow above my head. Trust me, my histamine response to mosquitos is enviable. I wake up overnight with 8 more bites. Now here is a plug for "heat it" if you're extremely allergic to bites. It's a German start up - works amazingly. Can't believe I've lived so many years without it. I kill 3 more in the morning. The one thing Lyna provides is a random "book" of rules in a red padfolio. Excellent mosquito swatter.
I check out that morning and now I'm a bit concerned because I had tried to book directly with her over whatsapp (since she said it is cheaper to book with her than with Airbnb). I asked her 3 times before and during my stay, what is the rate and she never responded only that I will give you the "best price"...I just knew that it should presumably be less than the $16/night on Airbnb. In the end, she charges 300,000 vnd or $12/night. Ok there is some savings there, but I really didn't think it was worth more than $10/night. I ask her to discount the night where I had no running water in my room. She refuses. Oh well, it's "small" money as my dad says and as my mom says "you get what you pay for".
What I'm advising to you is that the basic comforts you would expect (friendly check-in, running water, insect free room) are not accounted for here and that is something you should take into consideration. There is a lovely homestay next door called Em's that seemed to have much happier customers. The price was closer to 800,000 vnd a night, but if I had known what I know, I would have happily signed up for Em's in lieu of my comical experience - but it's a good story, right?
Here are the pros:
- the new lady who makes your breakfast is sweet and tries and there is breakfast (NOT like the pictures though)
- the location is excellent
- the bikes are free to use and two of them are brand new
- It is a low price with a good location
Cons: listed above
- they do not serve you breakfast on the patio upstairs as the tripadvisor from a few years ago suggests.

Great Homestay near old-town Hoi An!
Highly recommend staying at Lyna’s House when visiting Hoi An!
The location can’t be beat - very close walk to everything in old town (restaurants, bars, shops) and the room was perfect for our stay in Hoi An.
Lyna spoiled us with delicious, traditional breakfast (and coffee and smoothies) each morning on the beautiful terrace of her Homestay.
Lyna is extremely accommodating and quick to respond to any questions. It was great getting to know her during our stay!
The location can’t be beat - very close walk to everything in old town (restaurants, bars, shops) and the room was perfect for our stay in Hoi An.

Extremely satisfied. Beyond expectation !!!!
I accidentally found this place on Booking.com with such great reviews. And I must say service here is wonderful. The staffs are so helpful and friendly. Breakfast is awesome with variety of option from noodle to bread and pancake. Room is clean and fully equipped with huge bed for 2 people.
Location is also a plus since it's so close to Hoi An Ancient Town.
Definitely book again for the next visit to Hoi An ❤
