Authentic experience in a real English pub

An authentic and decidedly British experience. The pub is welcoming, full of character and with a warm and convivial atmosphere that makes you feel immediately at ease. The room is comfortable large, clean and quiet as well as very British, ideal for a relaxing overnight stay after a day spent in the villages of Costworld.
Location located very well if you want to visit the city of Bath as well.
Absolutely recommended.

Pub lunch

A group of us popped in for a light lunch en route to Exmoor. Very good food, pleasant staff & welcoming to dogs. The only criticism was being charged nearly £5 for a pint of lime & soda - surely too much..??

Highs and lows

We were en route to Devon and chose the Crown as a convenient stopover to break the journey. In this it was ideal, as was the private parking area,and extremely comfortable bed. However, we didn't think the price of £202 was good value. For that price I would expect a wow factor. The bathroom was jaded, very stained shower curtain and sink, and no fridge to keep milk fresh etc. The staff were, on the whole, very helpful but again, we were disappointed with the food choices. Breakfast was disappointing, bacon overcooked, sausages dry and egg overcooked. I wanted toast with tomatoes I received 4 slices of sourdough toast, some delicious butter and one eighth of a tomato.

Dynamic Pricing for Rooms

The Crown Inn is a pretty average typical English pub with rooms. We used it as an overnight staging point on the Cotswold Way.
The rooms are very average pub rooms laid-out motel-style on two sides of the car park right next to the busy A46.
Perhaps because of the guaranteed Cotswold Way clientele, the Inn uses a dynamic pricing system which is tantamount to price-gouging. A very average motel room was charged at luxury hotel rates. It leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.
The same cannot be said for the food which was very good at dinner. Breakfast OK too.
Pity about the price gouging, so can’t recommend.
