Fabulous Food
Drinks were soon prepared and we were given time to choose our food.
All three courses were exceptional served hot and perfectly presented.
This was our first visit to the Tempest but will not be our last.
Thanks everyone there for great food and super service .

Mixed experience
It wasn't a great atmosphere in the bar in the late afternoon, it wasn't a Cosy country pub feel which is what we were after. That said the atmosphere was fabulous later on. They had an offer on (fish and chips Tuesday) the bar and restaurant was very lively. Thankfully we had booked a table. Dogs are welcome in some parts of the restaurant. Some tables were served but we had to order at the bar. The food was brought over to us in good time , we had to ask for knives and forks. The food was delicious though! Highly recommend the steak and ale pie.
Our room (pickhill 4) was quite small and dark and the window looked out on a courtyard with nice planting and seating .
It was nicely decorated and furnished, with plenty of storage space . There was tea and coffee in the room and water in a small fridge.
The bathroom wasn't great at all. Shower needed a good clean around the edges, the shampoo/body wash was watery, the cold tap was warm and the flush on the loo was fitted in such a weird way. It broke on the morning we were leaving. My husband managed to fix it. We were a bit disappointed with our room for the above reasons.
All the staff were lovely from reception to bar staff. The young man serving behind the bar was very friendly and helpful with great customer service.

A slick operation, but not for me.
It’s in a lovely location, but sadly (for me) all the charm has been taken away by modernisation. I understand, it’s been made into a slick venue with rooms, but not what I was looking for. The food tasted bland, and I’m not sure how much of it was actually made in the kitchen. Apparently what I want is difficult to find: locally sourced food, made from scratch and served with style. Am I the only one?

Our first time here and it won’t be our last
The food was delicious. My husband had the Unicorn Pie (steak and ale) with mozzarella and bbq sauce fries and I had the Tempest burger. We rarely have dessert but we ordered and enjoyed the chocolate torte and lemon meringue pie (we halved each dessert and swapped - it’s the rule!).
We couldn’t fault the service - we were made to feel so welcome and even Oscar, our golden retriever was fussed over and patted by the staff.
Thank you! We will be back.
