I do not recommend

What a great location for a hotel.
Unfortunately everything else let this hotel down. Our room was on the 1st floor, I don’t think this matters because the whole hotel smelled of cannabis especially in the hallways to the rooms. Our toilet was blocked on entry and toilet roll and bits were overflowing onto the bathroom floor. There was what appeared to be human excrement on the bedroom floor and on a seat, like someone sat there without cleaning themselves after using the toilet. The shower had no hot water which every way you turned the tap and the water in the sink would give you third degree burns just by looking at it! The money has been spent on a great looking function suite for bingo and entertainment and the rooms are still stuck in the 70s
I have been in contact with the hotel who promised to investigate and reply and I’m still waiting over two weeks later!
The only silver lining (or brown and beige for this hotel) is that a lovely member of staff gave us a key for a room across the hotbox hall to use another toilet and shower.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are very sorry to read about your experience and sincerely apologise that your stay fell so far below the standards we strive to provide.
We are particularly concerned by the issues you have described regarding the condition and cleanliness of your room, the blocked toilet, the lack of hot water and the odour you encountered. We appreciate how unacceptable this must have been and are sorry for the distress and inconvenience caused.
We are pleased that a member of our team was able to assist by providing access to alternative bathroom facilities, although we fully recognise this was not an acceptable solution to the problems you experienced.
Your comments have been shared with the relevant departments so that the concerns you have raised can be fully investigated and addressed as part of our ongoing commitment to improving the guest experience.
Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention.
Kind regards,
Management Team

The location of the hotel and the friendly staff make this hotel as otherwise it is pretty poor standard in all other areas. The beds are old and very uncomfortable and very small double beds. The bathrooms are tiny too. Rooms and rest of hotel in general very rundown and in serious need of renovation, certainly for what they charge. Breakfast was average.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

The whole experience was awful! If I could score it lower I would. Firstly we wasn’t expecting much from the price but room 1 had no hot water and no electricity to the plug sockets, staff were understanding and moved us to another room on the 11th floor, where we found the 1 lift to get us there had broken down. We then managed to speak to the manager who moved us again back to our previous room with no electricity and said we’d have to just wait until they could repair it! Obviously unhappy as we’d now missed our anniversary dinner reservations we asked for a full refund and booked a different hotel. The duty manager agreed to this and added he’d leave a note on their system, fast forward to 2 weeks later and no refund, booking.com got involved and have since advised they couldn’t reach an agreement with the hotel. My advice is to stay elsewhere and pay the little extra!
