Absolutely unacceptable experience – avoid this property.
According to our Expedia itinerary, a staff member was supposed to be available at the front desk to assist with check-in. When we arrived, there was nobody there. We attempted to use the paging/code entry system equipped with video surveillance—no response. We then called the phone number provided in our confirmation email, as well as the emergency/contact number listed on the laminated notice inside the property. Again, no response from anyone. We left multiple voicemails on both numbers and, even now, over three hours later, have still received no return call.
As it began to rain, a kind resident staying in the studio apartments let us into the waiting area so that we—and our luggage—wouldn’t be left standing outside getting soaked. That resident even commented that it’s “hard to get in touch with staff,” which should have been our first warning.
Once inside, it became very clear that “staff presence” was nonexistent. Behind the tiny front desk were piles of mail, scattered packages, and what looked like complete disorganization. To make matters worse, while standing there calling both numbers, I could physically hear the desk phone ringing in the closed office—completely ignored.
The most outrageous part? After all of this, I finally reached my travel agent, who informed me that they had received an email earlier that afternoon stating our booking had been canceled because the hot water at the property was not working, and that we should contact Expedia for a refund.
At no point did Pembroke Studio contact us directly. No phone call. No email. No apology. Nothing. They were perfectly content to let two exhausted travelers arrive with luggage, stand outside in the rain, and figure it out for ourselves.
This level of negligence, lack of communication, and complete disregard for paying customers is unacceptable. I strongly recommend others spend their money elsewhere—somewhere that actually values its guests and provides basic communication and customer service.

Email instructions for checking in were clear and ideal.
The building is modern and perfectly functional.
My room was excellent and would be ideal for a short self catering stay in the city.
The facilities were ideal for my stay.
The two members of staff I briefly met were friendly, polite and professional.
