Provided the reason to return to St Ives
Absolutely great accommodation and well run business. I turned up after a long journey and found that I was welcomed and made to feel that my stay was going to be relaxed and easy with nothing being too much trouble.
I was staying in the shepherds hut for the week that I had easily booked the previous month. This room or, I would really say my home for the week as it felt that way, was super clean, correctly sized and easy to navigate instantly.
Downsfield allows you to just come and go as you please while providing a feeling that you only have to ask on anything about accommodation or area and an answer will be available.
The breakfasts were fantastic with plenty of choice and came with a really comfortable process of taking daily requests. At times it just felt like I was amongst family and I was just getting the ‘what would you like for breakfast tomorrow’ question. Breakfast was also served in a really lovely breakfast room or terrace if you wanted.
I did not actually go into the main house much although I would say that the attention to detail and prettiness of the decor that I did experience in the dining room, made it easy to see how I felt relaxed and comfortable.
Parking was really easy and bus stop and convenience store just across the road made either travel into St ives or purchase of whatever wanted really easy.

Holiday to st ives
Very friendly and helpful we stayed in the log cabin which had everything you need even a fridge freezer and microwave the breakfast was amazing and plenty of choice to choose from best breakfast I've had when away

Stay away
We received a message 30 minutes before our arrival to say that there was no longer space for our car and that we would have to park a third of a mile away in a car park. On arrival we were met by the couple who stood in the doorway so we could not get in and thirty seconds later they said, "You can have your money back and find somewhere else to stay" As they clearly did not want our custom we left. We discovered from our alternative B&B that this often happens as they have fewer parking spaces than rooms, but that they use two of the available parking spaces for their own cars. It took about a fortnight for our money to be returned. Stay Well Away!

My response to the above review. When you arrived you were informed previously that there was parking off site via email. The room you booked was a budget room and we tried to keep it where we can keep it as cheap as possible and by us paying for your allocated parking about five minutes walk from the property we can do this.
Obviously if there is available parking on site we would have let you park on the site for the one night stay you had booked. We park our own vehicles off site to give our guests all the parking. You have been misinformed by a third party which I feel is greatly unfair that you are able to put this in a review.
We refunded you in full back to booking.com, as you agreed to this refund due to your distain regarding the parking issue and this was refunded to you immediately on the same day by myself and it is not my fault that booking.com had taken so long to refund it back to you. Yet again I feel it is unjust you point the finger at ourselves for the late refund.
We have many guests stay with us and have had many good reviews and unfortunately on this occasion you have decided to leave us a bad review. May I suggest next time you book a room you fully understand what you have booked and then you would have had a very positive experience as many guests do.

5 star bed & breakfast
Upon arrival we were greeted my Sharon & Phil with big smiles, welcoming after a loneg ourney. The hallway was clean & colour co-ordinated & always smelt fresh. Our bedroom was ready despite arriving early. It again was colour co-ordinated, with tea & coffee making facilities, The en-suite bathroom was large with both a bath & large shower in it.
You couldn't fault the breakfast as you had a choice, full English, omlettes etc, tea, coffee, orange & other juices if required.
We'll definitely return next year. Thanks for making us so welcome.

Perfect stay at Downsfield Bed and Breakfast
A return visit for us after some six years in the area, and our stay was just as pleasant has the first, lovely friendly atmosphere on arrival and was met by the owners, nothing to much trouble with plenty of local knowledge…. our room was bright and comfortable with everything you’d need for a comfortable relaxing stay.
Plenty of choices for breakfast all cooked to order, hot and tasty..
And its own car park is a real bonus we never used the car after parking up, as there’s a bus stop just over the road 5 minutes into St ives .
We had a great time and intend to return soon and stay at Downfield we wouldn’t stay any where else …
