Outstanding every single time !

This is by far the best Resturant within miles, superb old but new Resturant building in wonderful English gardens. Every special occasion and more with friends we come here to be garunted a warm welcome and amazing home cooked traditional food, celiacs as well for my daughter. Chairs are a bit hard but cushions available. We have travelled lots eat everywhere so know a thing and this is really worth lunch or supper but book!

Fantastic pub with rooms

Stayed here as I needed to visit clients in the area. My room was really comfortable (excellent, very large bed!) and well appointed. Good water pressure for the shower (pet hate of mine is "under powered" showers!).
Dinner was excellent as was the service provided by the friendly staff.
It will be nice to visit in the summer as the garden looked like a great place to enjoy a sunny evening.

Friendly and Comfortable

We decided to stay a night in a country pub and selected the Wellington Arms on the basis of a review in the Telegraph. It was very complimentary about the food and the rooms. We weren't disappointed on arrival as the welcome was warm and friendly as we checked in.
We had a very comfortable room with tea/coffee with some shortbread and a huge emperor bed with a lovely goosedown duvet. A decent sized bathroom with good lighting and mirrors. They have considered everything with one exception...the rain shower is great, but they don't provide a shower cap which means a tricky shower for those of us who don't want to get their hair wet, something to think about. Underfloor heating keeps the room very cosy (the heating system is not easily adjusted, but it was warm enough).
We had dinner in the restaurant where the service was again friendly and attentive. The menu provides a good choice of dishes, plus starters and nibbles to choose from. I would advise that you don't get carried away (easily done) as the prices are fairly high. The quality is excellent of course, but vegetables are extra at £4 to £5 each (a small bowl).
One very annoying point...only discovered when the bill was given at the end....they charged £1 for butter which I think is quite unnecessary. The said butter arrived at the table after we had finished our starters and so we barely had use for it. We certainly didn't ask for it and so I think the charge was disappointing. (I think you are allowed to be picky if you are the paying customer)
Continuing with the meal... the dessert choice was equallly as good as the main courses plus cheeses galore. Anyone with an average appetite will be very full!
Breakfast was ordered the evening before..before we had even ordered dinner. The food at breakfast was excellent, served with sourdough bread, jams and marmalde (all homemade I understand). Each table has a toaster so you can choose to have bread or toast it yourself. We were surprised to note that there was no fruit juice offered, we asked for it and we were charged. I am not sure why they don't include it.
The Wellington Arms tries very hard and succeeds in providing a very comfortable place to stay and eat. The staff and owners work hard and the place is clearly very popular and well known in the area. It isn't cheap, but the quality is high. The couple of things I have pointed out are fairly minor, but can easily be dealt with.... a shower cap, free butter and fruit juice at breakfast?

Excellent lunch in the country side

An excellent lunch in the country side. Of the four of us, most ordered from the simple lunch menu ( two or three courses). We started with some well prepared mixed drinks and each had a pleasant starter (I enjoyed the onion soup). A nice red wine and mains were next. I loved my cheese souffle and my wife equally enjoyed the sausage dish. The house made sourdough bread was also a great start to the lunch. The Wellington is a relaxing and quaint setting, but I was told told that the gardens in the summer add to the visit even more.
