A Truly Unforgettable Wedding – Exceptional Service, Coordination & Food

We recently celebrated our wedding at this venue and could not have been happier with our experience.
From the moment we booked, Wendy was outstanding. She was professional, organized, responsive, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire planning process. Her attention to detail and calm presence ensured that everything ran smoothly on the day, allowing us to relax and enjoy every moment of our celebration.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Ryan, the chef, for being so accommodating with our request for a Turkish buffet. He worked closely with us to understand our vision and created a wonderful menu that reflected our cultural preferences. The food was exceptional, and our guests thoroughly enjoyed it. We received so many compliments about both the quality and variety of the dishes.
The venue itself was beautiful and provided the perfect setting for our wedding. Combined with the excellent service, delicious food, and seamless coordination, it made for a truly unforgettable day.
Thank you to Wendy, Ryan, and the entire team for going above and beyond to make our wedding so special. We would highly recommend this venue to any couple looking for a memorable and stress-free wedding experience.

Unsafe, Unhygienic, and Disgraceful Management – Reporting to Environmental Health

I am writing this review to issue the starkest possible warning to future guests, wedding parties, and especially families with young children: do not stay here. We booked a block of rooms for a wedding weekend, paying full price, and were subjected to appalling, sub-standard conditions that are a direct violation of UK consumer and safety laws.
The physical state of this hotel is not just neglected; it is actively dangerous:
Room 203 (Severe Child Safety Hazard): A heavy, solid wall bracket fixture was physically detached and hanging off the wall. This room was occupied by two young children. Leaving a heavy, unstable structural fixture accessible to toddlers shows a shocking disregard for basic safety and created an immediate risk of personal injury.
Rooms 122 & 124 (Scalding & Thermal Shock Risk): The shower plumbing was completely defective. Water temperatures violently fluctuated between freezing cold and instantly scalding hot within seconds, presenting a genuine burn risk to anyone trying to wash.
Disgusting Hygiene Standards: Across our rooms, basic cleanliness was non-existent. We encountered hairs on supposedly fresh bed linen, insect and spider infestations, and soiled towels. When guest requested a hoover to clean these up, there was no apology and staff were very grumpy - even though we were willing to do it ourself.
Customer Service: Lacking throughout our stay - waiting for 3 minutes at check in - not an issue - but no welcome greeting, friendliness or warmth - and we had previously paid but were told we still had to pay - which ended up with some sighing and stropping from staff when pointed out! Already making us feel unwelcome a few minutes in.
Abysmal Food & Hostile Customer Service:
To make matters worse, the dining and hospitality experience was utterly dreadful. The food itself was entirely unpalatable—sub-standard, poorly prepared, and unappetising. For a venue that prides itself on hosting major events and weddings, serving food of this shockingly low quality while treating paying guests like an inconvenience is completely unacceptable. Though we did not pay for it, we can say the same for the food provided for the wedding.
The only thing worse is the disgraceful attitude of the Managing Director, Avtar Sahota. Because our group showed the hotel the courtesy of waiting until the wedding weekend concluded to file our complaint—specifically so we wouldn't ruin the bride and groom's special day—management has used this against us. Mr. Sahota has cynically labeled these verified physical hazards as "alleged" because they weren't reported mid-stay.
Despite the appalling treatment and clear breaches of contract, the hotel has flatly refused to refund a single penny of our money. Instead, they insulted our intelligence by trying to fob us off with a heavily discounted future stay and complimentary tickets to Chessington World of Adventures.
Because of their total refusal to take financial accountability or acknowledge these hazards, we are officially reporting The Angel Hotel to the local Environmental Health and Trading Standards departments. A formal, documented file detailing the safety risks to minors and dangerous plumbing is being handed over for investigation.
If you are planning a wedding or booking a family holiday, avoid this venue at all costs. They will happily take your money, put your children at risk, and stonewall you when things go wrong.

It looked like my room had not been used for a while as there were several spiders webs, some with rather large living spiders in them. I was too late for the evening meal but the breakfast was good. Still no real ale on pumps in the bar which is a great shame as they used to have a good selection.

Windows and frames could do with a good clean, food was lovely, reception could do with being manned at busy times instead of the bar person having to serve both the bar and reception at the same time. Will stay again
