Short vacation was excellent, longer - less so

The Tenuta Zamparina is a wonderful place with friendly and helpful staff. Absolutely recommended for a short stay.
We had a longer stay here and different expectations.
The location is beautiful, the Tinetto room is stylishly decorated but not very functional. Too little storage space, e.g., in the bathroom and bedroom. For short-term guests, it may be sufficient, but unfortunately not for a longer stay.
The website differs in room selection, as all suites are meant, even though one gets the impression of booking a specific room. A number is supposed to be selected, but the room numbers are not communicated. Therefore, it is better to inquire which room is available.
We believed we had booked the Portovenere suite, a room with a freestanding bathtub and a private garden with shade-giving trees.
Instead, we received the Tinetto suite, whose garden is visible from the hallway and the driveway. However, the advantage here is the location, as it is not near the restaurant/breakfast area and thus quieter.
Kindly, upon request, a second sun umbrella was provided after a few days so that shade could be found. There are no drying options for towels or bathing items at all. The description for the jacuzzi is missing, but the staff was able to help; however, it is chlorinated and the water was not changed. After 6 days, we asked at breakfast when the bed linens would be changed; it was supposed to happen, but in the evening, they had not been changed. The friendly reception staff helped here as well. We found the illuminated light switches disturbing, as they remain lit continuously and cannot be turned off, and there are 5 of them. They were located in the bedroom.
Breakfast is served until 12 PM, which is great for us late risers! However, typically Italian, there was no jam, no cold cuts, no cheese; instead, there were delicious cakes, beans, savory tarts, and some fruit. Egg dishes could be ordered.
The bar and dinner were disappointing for us. The bartender was not on site - no cocktails, and the main course was accidentally cold. It seems that food is not cooked here but rather reheated, as the kitchen equipment is rather limited. Therefore, we went elsewhere to eat.
The price-performance ratio is off.

Not very good.

Good morning, my experience at Zamparina was not the best. My wife and I spent a night at this estate and stayed in the San Rocco suite. The room is quite small, and especially the space between the bed and the opposite wall, where the television is located, is very limited. Our suite is located on the ground floor; I would recommend those positioned on the first floor, which enjoy both a better view and greater privacy.
The structure is very well cared for in detail, the pool is very beautiful, and despite being surrounded by greenery, the absence of mosquitoes is almost total (this is due to a treatment that is repeated several times a day).
The website advertises a wide selection of bottles to choose from to end the day in the best way, but we were not offered any tastings, and in general, no activities were proposed to us.
However, the most disappointing aspect was the breakfast. I am celiac, and this issue was communicated to the establishment; moreover, I was prompted by them via email asking about any intolerances. Despite this, in the morning I found only gluten-free packaged products (except for eggs and yogurt), which highlights a very low level of attention towards me in an establishment of this level. Additionally, in response to my request for jam, which was not present at the buffet, I was brought a single 350g jar of cherry jam (I have stayed in other hotels of the same level where the breakfast was of a significantly higher standard).
In conclusion, I would say that the cost of the stay is not proportional to the services, both those offered and those not offered.

Unforgettable stay

Our stay at Tenuta Zamparina was not just a holiday—it was something truly special, something we will carry with us for a very long time.
From the moment we arrived late in the evening, tired from travel, we were met with such warmth and kindness that it almost felt like arriving at a family home rather than a hotel. Instead of formalities, they simply took care of us—feeding us, settling us into our room, and gently leaving the check-in for the next morning so we could rest. That small gesture said everything about the kind of place this is.
We spent six unforgettable days here, celebrating our daughter’s 14th birthday, and what they did for her brought tears to our eyes. They prepared a beautiful birthday cake, made her feel seen and celebrated, and truly turned the moment into something magical—not just for her, but for all of us as a family.
What touched us most was how attentive and intuitive the team was. They noticed the little things—what we enjoyed for breakfast—and from then on, everything was prepared exactly the way we liked it. When they realised they didn’t have the tea we preferred, they went out of their way to source it specially for us. Who does that anymore?
Every morning began with perfect Italian coffee, lovingly prepared, and every day brought something new—freshly made cakes (even asking Sophie what she liked and then baking it for her!), incredible dinners, beautiful wines, and homemade liqueurs like limoncello that tasted like sunshine in a glass.
The hotel itself is breathtaking—peaceful, elegant, and deeply relaxing. Having a jacuzzi and sauna in the room felt indulgent in the best possible way, the pool is stunning, and the views are simply unforgettable. Days at the beach, followed by evenings of incredible food and wine—it felt like living inside a dream.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, they surprised us again and again—with thoughtful gifts, including a beautiful Italian coffee maker and coffee to take home, and even the gorgeous beach bags from our room, which we were invited to keep. These are not just things—they are memories we now carry home with us.
Their generosity extended to every part of our stay: a late checkout with no pressure, flexibility when we extended, and constant, genuine care. Every single day they asked if we were happy, if we needed anything—and they truly meant it.
We have travelled a lot, but we can honestly say we have never experienced hospitality like this. This is not just service—this is heart, soul, and true Italian warmth at its absolute best.
Too many beautiful details to mention, too many moments to list—but one thing is certain: this place is pure magic.
We left with full hearts, unforgettable memories, and deep gratitude.
We will be back. ❤️
