Very nice hotel!

Beautiful hotel in beautiful historic building. From the moment of warm welcome to departure we felt very pampered.
Room large, bed very good, nice hard mattress, air conditioning worked excellently. Breakfast extensive and tasty and you were served delicious coffee and fresh egg dishes at the table.
A 7-minute walk from the market.
Parking our car went smoothly via valet. They have a parking garage with elevator but that was a bit tricky with our SUV. Valet put him across the street in a private outdoor parking lot. There he was safely. And at a low cost of €26 per night.
Thank you to the ladies of the reception for the welcome. And especially to the young lady who was so sweet to make me a delicious homemade iced tea after a long car ride. Very thoughtful.

Two buildings; choose carefully

There are two completely-different buildings: The traditional style building and a detached modern apartments facing the river. I know nothing of the main building so my review is only about Apartment 4. It is a "WOW!" kind of place that is spectacular for your social media posts. One wall is entirely windows, with a view of the river and a beautiful church. It is huge, with a hidden kitchen nook, and even a balcony.
But apt 4 is not practical if staying more than a night. There are no curtains so it becomes super-heated in the August afternoon sun and the AC just can't keep up. There is no bedroom door so you can't make a "cold room." The toilet is a closet with no sink or bidet. The bed is up against a wall with no side access for both people. It is beautiful, but not very practical, in my opinion anyway.
But again, the room is very "special" with an incredible view.

Overrated

We booked an apartment across from the Hotel Schlossberg.
The apt is very large with a dreamlike view The mattresses are saggy, terrible.
The toilet is extremely small‍♂️ On the terrace there was only one lounge chair….‍♂️
The breakfast buffet is good. The very young staff is poorly trained, they walk past you dozens of times without anyone ever asking what you would like… I find it quite cheeky, almost brazen, that you have to pay 24€ for an outdoor parking space across from the hotel (unprotected). Sorry, that is a teardown.

Just two blocks to City Center, Square easy access to everything everything is closed on Sundays

Really enjoyed staying at this property located on the edge of the old town in Gratz. We had a nice large comfortable room. Very walkable to Graz shopping, restaurants and other sites.
