Best of Cuenca

It exceeded my expectations, the theme of the hotel gives it a very special and romantic touch, I loved its breakfast, the staff very on hand to help us with everything, apart it is super close to the center of Cuenca just a couple of streets walking and is very good price.

Excellent Central Hostel

Posada del Rey is a traditional Spanish colonial house with a central internal courtyard garden. It is in an excellent location in the centre of the historic district near the Cathedral, Parque Calderon, markets and museums. Based on high ratings on Trip Advisor we selected this hostel for a brief stay. We failed to notice that all these ratings are not current – most are more than 5 years old. We pre-arranged a several night stay in this hostel. They agreed to a rate which once they had our deposit they did not honour. They stated the deposit ( almost 50 % ) was non-refundable leaving us without options to change or cancel. They required the remaining balance in full upon check-in. Perhaps they have problems with disappointed clients requesting refunds or leaving early. The room is a generous size, clean, well furnished with a balcony. King size bed, and hot water that must come from nearby hot springs. ( very slow to arrive ) The room's only ventilation is from the balcony above the street and the city traffic only rests in the wee hours of the morning. A clock or small fridge would be nice additions. A typical continental breakfast is available. The staff seem disinterested in both their jobs, & the guests, even though it was mostly vacant during our stay. Only one young lady was helpful and smiling. We had to fetch our own toilet paper, remote control, then batteries for the remote etc

Lousy service, they don't respect the Reservation.

We traveled with the family but it is terrible service, we booked for 4 nights and the third day we were changed rooms because they had already sold and reserved our rooms. There wasn't a glass in the room. Unserious, regrettable service. The rooms are very small for the price we paid we could have been in a better hotel with better service.

They lie to you that it includes parking, they tell you that it is included and upon departure they charge you 7.50. Since they change personnel, you can't make a complaint, but there is no suggestion box.
Very small rooms. For those prices there are better places

Great location, friendly staff

Staff super friendly. Only one spoke English and he went the extra mile for us consistently. Helped us with the little things and always with a huge smile. We had an amazing experience there. Breakfast was decent, and the location was spectacular!!
