Really enjoyable in every way.

I'd stay here again and again. The receptionist is lovely. I was on my own and very nervous about travelling alone, but she gave me great tips and was so friendly. The single room I had was ample, with a desk, wardrobe and above all a balcony looking onto the wonderful river. Everything was spotless. Breakfast was great, but nothing hot, which did not bother me. A great selection. You could take beers, wine and schnaps from the fridge and write it in the book to pay on departure. A God send, lol. Only 10 minutes walk to the train station, which is why I so favoured it. The hotel gives you a free travel pass for the buses. There's a bus from there to the town centre. I went on a Sunday walk all along the town centre and above - map with instructions given to me by the tourist information office - great. Nothing open however in Austria on a Sunday. I had a fabulous time there, but go to attractions of any kind as soon as they open, not even half an hour later as it's incredibly busy in the months of July and August, when I visited. I forgot to say also how reasonably priced the whole stay was.

Ageing, the house with very noisy surroundings

The guest house is located directly on the main road and directly on the railway tracks at an unrestricted level crossing, so that the trains honk loudly every half hour even at night. Then sleep is unthinkable. Hence only one star. Room number 14 is on the third floor and very small, but that doesn't matter, the furniture is generally a bit used to and the mattresses clearly too hard. But this is a personal experience.

Recommended accommodation

The guest house is within walking distance of the train and bus station. Room was basic but absolutely fine. The bathroom seemed to be newly renovated.
The train running directly in front of the house did not disturb us further. Breakfast was good, and there was the possibility to smear takeaway rolls for a small extra charge. The whole team was very friendly and accommodating. The star deduction is for the fact that there is only Wi-Fi in the dining room! Otherwise we would book here again immediately.

Bavarian Hospitality at its Best

Well appointed and excellent service. Well priced and central to everything. The hostess was very charming and accommodating to all our needs and wants. Ensure you know what size of room you need/want as the small double is small. Ask for a balcony for the full experience. The breakfast was amazing.

Great

Unfortunately the road in front was being dug up so we couldn’t walk into town but parking was free after 5pm and east enough to drive in. Good location for town and to Konigsee Lake / Salt mines. Breakfast was great and host very accommodating. The room was spotlessly clean and we enjoyed an evening on the balcony! The trains are noisy but we have 2 train loving children so then were super excited when they went past - they are infrequent and stop about 8/9pm. Really enjoyed our stay!
