Amazing!

Wonderful hotel with absolutely affordable price, especially considering the beauty it offers. Completely immersed in the forest and attached to the entrance of the Palenque Archaeological Park, the hotel offers beautiful cabañas, and an excellent restaurant. The staff is very kind and friendly.
Absolutely recommended.

Good location, poor condition

Our experience at the Maya Bell Hotel Palenque was quite disappointing. The cabin we were initially assigned had no hot water, a situation we communicated at reception. Unfortunately, the attitude of the lady who attended us was unsympathetic and unwilling to solve the problem. For her, it didn’t seem relevant, as we had been granted an early check-in (requested in advance and subject to availability, because our bus arrived in Palenque around 6:00 a.m.).
Luckily, later in the day there was another person in reception with better judgment and disposition, who finally changed our room.
In general, the cabins feel very precarious: they look cluttered, dirty and with obvious lack of maintenance. They do not have a hairdryer and the electrical connections leave much to be desired, to the point of appearing unsafe. The beds, although advertised as doubles, are small and not comfortable for two people.
On the bright side, the restaurant is pretty good: the pizzas are correct and the service was friendly and attentive. Another great plus is the location, as you can walk to the archaeological site of Palenque.
However, it is important to note that access tickets are not sold at the entrance of the site, so you have to go back approximately 2 to 3 km to buy them in advance.
In short, although the location and restaurant play in favor, the conditions of the cabins and the initial attention at reception make it difficult to recommend this hotel, especially if you are looking for comfort and good conditions.

Natural setting and good staff

When we arrived early evening there was a nice welcome and speedy check in. The receptionist made an effort to translate into english about how to get tickets if we wanted to go to Palenque ruins the next day, which we really appreciated.
Our room which was a standard room had enough space, decent hanging space, seats and table, and one bedside table.  The bathroom was small with little space to put things and nowhere to hang even a towel. We did however have reliable hot water. Although there was a mosquito screen on the window there were gaps around it and also under the bedroom door. We had a lot of ants in the room. We understand that we are in a natural setting so should expect some bugs but this was too many.
The bed was small and hard with no headboard. There was no comfort in the room at all.  Although we made sure to get a room with AC it was so noisy that we had to turn it off.
We enjoyed sitting on the terrace and saw some birds and the agouti. The grounds were very nice and included a swimming pool. The restaurant and public spaces were well decorated. We ate in the restaurant on all 3 nights as it is not easy to get to anywhere else without transport. The food was decent and not overpriced.
All staff we met were very friendly and helpful. We have very little spanish but they tried their best and we could see that they work hard.
We have given 4 out of 5 mainly for the staff. We did not like our room at all so we would advise upgrading to a better room if possible.

Relaxation

A quiet place, to relax, lots of greenery, close to the archaeological area of Palenque you can hear the howler monkeys quite close. Without TV to disconnect totally, even though it has wiffi don't be scared, restaurant service good taste

Experience the jungle up close

Maya bell is a great place for anyone who would like to combine a visit to the wonderful archeological site of Palenque with a unique experience of staying over night in the jungle.
I stayed for 2 nights in a newish double cabana with an air condition. With the high level of humidity this is a must in Palenque.
The bungalow had basic amenities – a comfortable bed and a basic shower bathroom combo. There are no screens on the windows, which are not sealed either, so bug repellant over night is recommended.
The room can also use a safe (to prevent cash and passport theft) and a basic small fridge to cool off water bottles. Please note, that the tap water are not drinkable nor can be used for teeth brushing. The hotel provides 2 small water bottle a day and you can purchase large ones at the restaurant.
The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The pool is great but need some maintenance and cleaning.
The hotel offers good a la carte breakfast for a reasonable price and great dinner and excellent pizza and burgers. Don’t skip the margaritas, they are awesome.
All in all it is a great place to experience the jungle – you will see and hear howler monkeys, numerous birds and be close to the archeological site. Coupled with the great restaurant and attentive service, this hotel is highly recommended.
