Excellent

Celebrated family holiday, Saturday to Sunday. Eight adults and a small puppy. Castle package. We all stayed in Klostergården, three double rooms plus a suite. Everyone was very happy with their accommodation.
Clean and tidy, good beds. Especially pleased we were to have the suite, large living room with beautiful carpets where we could meet before dinner.
Because of the puppy we ate in the Glass House. Beautifully set, incredibly good food. Two dishes to choose from both for starter and main course. We ate a little differently but everyone was more than happy. Our waitress was a miracle of knowledge and helpfulness. The dessert buffet was outstanding.
For breakfast we got our own puppy room which was appreciated.
Breakfast had everything you could want except possibly freshly squeezed juice. Excellent Service.
The beautiful surroundings enhanced the stay.
Can warmly recommend a visit.

Ghost walk with overnight stay

Expectations were high for this visit with ghost walk in the castle as I like history.
At the reception we are greeted by a very nice male receptionist who checks us in and gives us a quick guide where to meet us for the ghost walk, and that there is a bar if you want to drink.
We had chosen to stay at the castle itself. 3rd floor with stairs that can be a bit difficult for elderly people.
The room was clean and comfortable.
In the bathroom I would have liked a full shower, and not a shared shower wall where half the bathroom floor was splashed. A touch, of course.
My biggest displeasure was the hotel pillow. Far too soft and not at all comfortable. Had to noise it up to get any resistance at all in it. But it was not good.
Didn't sleep at all that night because of the pillow, and I reminded myself to always bring my own pillow in the future.
The bed was comfortable otherwise.
The ghost walk itself was pleasant. However, some very people with about 30 in the company which means that you have to wait for the stragglers.
She who guided us around and told us had a nice and living way of telling.
I would have liked some small dim light placed during the walk, more than the 4 lanterns that were handed out, to actually see a bit of the castle. Like in the king's room where we're going to look at his portrait. A little difficult in a totally dark room.
After the hike it was time for the dinner included in the package.
Buffet was served. Buffet for me is a bit of choice.
But here we got onion soup for starters. And for the main course it was fallow deer with body cake, red wine sauce and haricots verts.
The fallow deer was very good, but cold, just like other food. Don't know if the idea was to serve it cold? I didn't eat the body cake, nor the onion soup.
The partner ate of everything and was satisfied. Also pointed out that the food should have been warm.
Breakfast the next day was served in the stables which was nice with all the lit candles.
Good breakfast with everything you could want on a breakfast.
Bäckaskog Castle is nicely situated between Ivösjön and Oppmannasjön.

Good overnight stay.

We spent the night here, not in the castle, but in one of the annexes (Möllan). Large fresh room on the second floor. Well-kept. A bit too soft bed in my opinion. One small fault though, the shower wall was way too small so it got wet far outside the shower area. Nice staff at the reception who told us a lot about the castle. Very good breakfast with nice staff there as well. Lying over here can be recommended to be done.

Absolutely amazing stay!

We had an absolutely amazing weekend stay at this very nice old castle. We had booked a weekend package with dinner and breakfast included. We had a room in the castle. Very nice room with great view. The castle has a park where we took a walk. Located by a lake, Our dinner was outstanding. So very good and cooked to perfection. Great service. Wonderful ambience at the castle. Breakfast in the morning was very good too. A very luxury stay.

We stayed at the Park house 150m from the hotel. This was a house with a corridor of entrances to each room.
The bad:
The room was very dated and felt more like a low cost camping cottage.
Room was not that clean, plenty of dust under bed, dust and spider web in bathroom etc.
Entrance to the house was full of spider web on the wall and should be cleaned up.
The good:
Staff was very helpful and nice!
The surrounding nature and castle was great!
Breakfast was a good continental breakfast in a cosy old stable.
