Remarkably LOUSY Experience

Rude staff. Behaved more like guard dogs than hospitality personnel.
Charged more than was indicated from Agoda booking.
Insisted on 3% extra for DEBIT card payment. Total hooligans.
We paid for window rooms, but they were unavailable. Assigned window-less room without compensation.
The room was smelt like dried up puke. Bedsheets were dirty. Hairdryer did not work. TV spoilt. Not a single chair in the room. Provided 2 tiny shower and hand wash.
Towels easily mistaken as floor rags.
Mats bellowed "songs" right opposite the hotel until 2am. They seem really to believe michael jackson lives in them. All this mean, you either enjoy this ruckus or be prepared not to sleep until they stop.
I would NEVER stay at Astar Hotel Bukit Bintang, even if I have to sleep outside Bukit Bintang LRT Station.

Just pick something else

The room we stayed in was at most 4 square meters (not considering the bathroom, if it can even be called that) so we couldn’t even properly open our suitcases. The walls, bed and bed sheets were dirty, and there was ants in the room. The cleaning guy came multiple times to our room, at odd times to ask something, including when we checked out, which we didn’t before the day after. I assume that is something the receptionist should informe him of? All in all dirty and not worth the price. However the biggest problem was when me and my mom arrived at 12pm and were told we could leave our bags and come back and receive our key at 2pm when our room was ready (understandable). However when we came back the new dish i had bought and left with our other stuff was completely destroyed. It was wrapped and put in a bag, but i placed it inside one of our bigger bags and left in behind our other luggage to protected as much as possible. But when we came back, the dish was laying on the floor a meter from the rest of our stuff, and not in the other bag where i had placed it for safe keeping. The workers offered to fully reimburse me for the dish the day after. But when i came back the day after they had (badly) glued it together. The issue with this was that it was clearly done cheap and poorly, and broke again within 24 hours. Honestly it was annoying that they kept passing the blame around, even after they showed me the surveillance of one of their workers breaking it. Not worth the money to stay here in my opinion, when other options within the same price range are available.

Don't do that!

There's nothing to say about the location.
But that's really told everything! Rarely seen such a dirty room. Red spots on the bed, fitted sheet and on the pillows. Walls have black spots on them. The room was very clean and comfortable.
At the reception there is a very large screen that everyone can see with live camera footage of all floors and corners of the hotel (not from inside the rooms).
For a moment I doubted if it was the same image over and over again because you saw more and more rats running behind the hotel where the garbage was piled high, but there were just a huge number of them.
We arrived at the hotel at 23:00 and were outside again at 23:15. It was that awful. The reception indicated to look at another room but first it had to be said that a refund is not possible. No, you really don't want to come here.

Very basic. Not value for money

Stayed for 2 nights during my recent visit to Malaysia.
- The location is good on a busy street in Bukit Bintang and most things are closeby.
- The hotel has no soundproofing and can be very noisy till late night. Certainly avoid if you want to rest and not party till past midnight.
- Rooms are small (some windowless), and stuffed. Humidity is high which makes the room smell bad.
- There were insects in the room (didn't bite but were there).
- The bathroom is very small and the toilet is placed directly next to the shower.
This is a budget hotel so things are very basic but the hotel is not value for money as you can get better options in the same price range. On my return trip to KL after visiting the rest of Malaysia, I stayed at multiple other facilities on the same (or even lower) budget which had much, much better facilities.

Hotel in downtown Bukita Bitang

Hotel in the centre of Kuala Lumpur on Bukit Bitang Street. The location is great, Petronas Towers can be reached in 20 minutes, Pavilion Shopping Centre is a 10-minute walk away, there are many cafes, barter shops, souvenir shops and grocery stores on the street, nearby on the parallel street is the famous Jalan Alor-street of the Asian open-air food court, the nearest metro station of the monorail is a 10- to 15-minute walk away. The street is certainly noisy and at night in a hotel for lovers of silence may be uncomfortable. The hotel is quite budgeted, we got a windowless room, we had a similar accommodation experience, but at the Astar Hotel we were not delighted. The windowless room is very small, stuffy with high humidity. The air conditioner hangs directly overhead and when turned on, the room-camera is very cold. There are some small insects running around in the room, they do not bite or strain, but the fact of their presence is confirmed. The bathroom is also small, the toilet is placed directly next to the shower, there is no partition between them. We chose this hotel on our own initiative on booking, because we chose the budget option without prepayment, all would be fine, but the lack of a window and the super small size of the room make me give a rating of 3/5. By the way, the hotel, like many others when checking in takes a deposit, when leaving the hotel with a refund of this deposit did not encounter problems (we left at about 3 a.m.), met with feedback on various resources that hotel staff when checking out do not want to return the deposit, from my experience I say that this is not true or we are just lucky.
