Elegant 125 year old hotel being refurbished

The hotel is a really elegant old French colonial hotel, over 125 years old.
When I walked into our suite, it took my breath away. The floor was highly polished real dark wood, the furniture was similar to that from a french chateau, oozing style and sophistication. (Check out the photographs with this post).
Now this may come as a surprise, but buildings 125 years old, grow old like people, and this buidling is no exception.
When we were there, they were just finishing painting the interior courtyard in a beautifull shade of cream and white.
I have noted some of the other reviews, about damp etc but I certainly did not have any adverse experiences, in fact the reverse. Yes some of the equipment may be old, but it all worked perfectly and better that some of the other hotels we have stayed in, really what do you expect in an old hotel........the clue is in the word OLD.
To sit in such a 'period' spacious centrally located hotel, at such a reasonable cost was a delight.
The tour guide in the reception was a mind of usefull information, and just added to the ambience of the hotel.
Well worth a visit, I would stay here again when I return to Hue.

Not as good at people make out.

The truth, here is our experience at the Hotel Morin. On arrival reception staff friendly at greeting us, had to change our room as they booked 2 singles, we got still 2 beds 1 double and 1 single, Room 225 but got more Mould, Mould everywhere I could smell it when we sat on the bed then in the middle of the night woke up full blown eyes swollen, sneezing and asthma. If I was in real estate would said renovatiors delight. No face washers, shower Curtin, leaking shower tap, old bath, leaking air con, and tv no tv connection. We we checked out first thing and went else where.

A quality step back in time

Charming & very classy hotel from a bygone age.
Beautiful garden dining area & bar, pool & poolside bar, fine dining restaurant all set in a solid quality traditional building.
Breakfast was buffet style with a good selection. Rooms are comfortable with beautiful dark wood floors & we had a view of the Perfume River. The bathroom was simple and had everything we needed.
The hotel is not glitzy top luxury (go to one of the new high rises for that) but provides an old fashioned high standard at excellent value for money. It will be remembered as a top favourite.
A special mention to Nguyen Van Phuc for his friendly, happy good nature.

Have used this Hotel several times in the past, a landmark of Hue, located across from the Citadel and within walking distance of many restaurants, shops and sights of interest.
The rooms are well maintained and have tasteful old world style.
Breakfast, has a wide range of choices both Western and Asian cuisine all of a good standard.
The front of house staff are both professional and helpful, during this visit my wife celebrated her Birthday, unexpectedly she received a bouquet of flowers and a card from the manager, this attention to detail makes the Saigon Morin a special place for us. Weather was so hot you could not do anything.
Nearly all restaurants have no air conditioning.
Paid for 5 days left in 2 with no refund
