Basic but clean and run by helpful, friendly people

We stopped here whilst on a bike tour of Europe. They stored our kit, kept an eye on the bikes whilst they were parked up overnight, sorted a taxi into Ghent and were generally very helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It's only one star and it's a hostel so you shouldn't expect luxury but what you get is great value for money.

Poor

Used to be an F1 but has managed to go downhill. The bogs still have the warning sign about the auto cleaner but that hasn't worked for months if not years. The cleaning jets are covered in dust. There is now a waste bin for those who do not understand toilet paper and modern sewage systems so the smell is predictable. Blood stains and cigarette burns in the bedding. But cheap.

Very very grim

An absolute hole filled with dodgy undesirables lurking around every corner. Blood on the walls and idiots blaring music until 6am in the car park. Location is a pain to get to and miles out of the city. No air con, windows don’t open. Absolute sweat box. You have been warned. Avoid.
P.S the old bloke running reception of a Friday after is an absolute arseh*le

Cancelled my stay, this place drained me of life-source.

I'm to be honest, this is the worst "hotel" I've ever stayed in.
The stench of smoke and marijuana (!) was sickening, despite no smoking signs.
My room was horrendously dirty and beaten up (see pictures), some of the doors did not lock properly.
There were no electrical plugs readily available, there was unrepaired damage to the room, and the bed was the least comfortable I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying.
Not that this is strictly the buildings fault, but the entire building was crawling with apparent 'locals', who were harassing young girls in our group and asking for their door codes, this sort of behaviour is completely unacceptable and the owner didn't seem to mind, meaning this establishment.
Avoid this place like the plague, sleep in your car, at least you are reasonably safe in there.

An odd and isolated hotel

I've stayed in numerous F1 hotels in France and I'm aware that they tend to be a no-frills basic affair, usually on the edge of town. Belgium's only F1 hotel is probably the most disappointing I've stayed at, largely because it was in such a hard location to find in the dark; isolated and gloomy near deserted docks with scant signage to work out how you need to navigate the maze of roads to access it off the arterial routes.
The rooms are fine - I slept well in a clean and comfy bed - and are no different to any other Hotel F1 (other than this room seemingly having had a lock broken on the window at some point); it was just the sense of unease that was generated by the odd groups, almost exclusively male, hanging around the entrance, drinking and smoking late at night. Others just hung around in the foyer, seemingly with no purpose.
The shower was fine, but the toilet seat was cracked, and moisture (I hate to think what) seeped up and made my leg damp as I sat on the cracked area. I chose this for the free parking and considerably lower cost than staying in the centre of Ghent; I definitely felt that I got what I paid for, compared to the going rate.
