The breakfast was fantastic and the staff were very helpful finding food for a traveller who is celiac. The room was neat and quiet with a comfortable bed. the AC was adequate. The only complaint was it would have been nice to have a small fridge.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the most disappointing travel experiences I’ve had.
My entire trip was carefully planned to arrive before the check-in deadline. Unfortunately, my flight was delayed by more than 1.5 hours, and after landing it took another 45 minutes to leave the airport due to airport logistics and traffic. As an international traveler coming from the other side of the world, I didn’t have an active local SIM card yet, and international roaming is extremely expensive, so contacting the property was simply not possible.
When I arrived, the property was completely closed. There was no staff, no self check-in instructions, and no way to access my room. I had no choice but to book another hotel with 24-hour reception and pay for a second accommodation that same night.
I understand I arrived after the official check-in time, but many of the delays were completely outside my control. A little flexibility or a one-time refund exception would have meant a lot and cost the property very little. Instead, I was still charged for the first night despite never being able to access the room, and both the property and Hotels.com refused any refund.
If you’re arriving after 10:00 PM, I strongly recommend choosing a property with 24-hour reception. My experience here was extremely disappointing.

Good location. Restaurant choices convenient near by and walking distance to views and sights. Tram stop in front made getting around easy.
Stairs are narrow and a four floor ascent was not great. No elevator. The room was clean and quiet. Very small room. Bath towels were well worn, unusually so for a hotel. No frills here. Breakfast was a nice addition. Staff friendly.

The hotel is very centric and walking distance to many tourist places. However, Our room was on the 3rd floor and no elevator. The tv was very grainy. The bathroom can use a make over. There is no full mirror in the room at all That is a must. It was clean, the water from the shower was good and enough pressure.

The staff was very helpful. We didn't know that there wasn't an elevator. That needs to be made clear ahead of time. However, a staff member helped us take our luggage up to the third floor. The WIFI signal was excellent. Breakfast is not included. You must pay for it. The window view pictured in the listing is not typical for the rooms. Our room and the halls were painted with very dark colors that were not pleasant. The location is on a busy, noisy street but good for exploring the Alfama district. The taxi service provided for getting to the airport was a little high but the young driver was excellent.
